The Big Cat Sanctuary Art Competition and auction is a global celebration of wildlife art, bringing together
emerging and established artists in support of big cat conservation. Open to artists worldwide, this annual
competition invites creatives to showcase their talent through original works
inspired by wild cats.
More than a competition, this initiative
plays an important role in raising funds and awareness for The Big Cat
Sanctuary’s conservation work, with proceeds contributing directly to the
protection of endangered species and the expansion of key projects such as the
Tiger Conservation Centre.
By connecting art, conservation, and
community, the Art Competition and auction creates a lasting impact, both on
and beyond the canvas.
This artwork celebrates the unexpected bond between a serval and a caracal, two rescued wild cats at the artist's local zoo, now sharing an enriching environment. Their relaxed, affectionate closeness captures a tender moment of companionship, highlighting the importance of rescue, responsible care and the opportunity for wildlife to thrive in safety.

Artist: Jennifer Graham Medium: Pencil Subject: White tiger Size: A4
This graphite pencil portrait of a white tiger on Bristol Board explores the striking contrast between its pale fur and distinctive black stripes. Artist: Sarah Gidden Medium: Oil paints Subject: Cheetah Size: A4
This painting celebrates the quiet beauty and elegance of the Cheetah. Through the use of complementary colours, a subtle visual contrast is created between the plain background and details on the face, drawing attention to its beauty and presence. The Cheetah could be looking for prey or keeping a look out danger.
The close up crop allows the viewer to have a life sized view of the face of this animal and perhaps reflect on what could be lost without continuing conservation efforts.

Warm orange tones contrast beautifully with violet and indigo, creating depth and atmosphere in this piece. Delicate dashes of gold leaf suggest sunlit grasses or flickering flames, adding luminosity and movement to the composition while celebrating the tiger’s quiet strength and captivating presence.

Artist: Paulien De Saeger Medium: Drawing Subject: Tiger Size: A4
Tigers are often portrayed through an intense, piercing gaze, emphasising their power as predators. This artwork shows a different side, the tiger resting peacefully with closed eyes, showing a moment of vulnerability and trust. The intimate composition reminds us that beneath its strength is a living creature deserving and needing protection.

This oil painting on paper with imitation gold leaf portrays Ursa, a beautiful lynx rescued from Ukraine, resting in the shade of a tree at The Big Cat Sanctuary. Artist: Jennifer Salvage Medium: Digital drawing Subject: Lioness and her cub Size: A4
Pride & Joy is a close and personal portrait of a lion mother and cub sharing a tender moment. A beautiful reference photograph from Linda Smit was instrumental in the making of this piece.
It was created with many layers of energetic and colourful scribbles to form the final image. The style was chosen to capture the energy of these magnificent big cats and the close, blended interaction between them. The multiple layers add a vibrancy as different colours peek through.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another
member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new
maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
