Born to Run Campaign - Help us Build a Cheetah Conservation Centre!
Living on an ever-decreasing patch of this earth, the
fastest land animal on Earth is at risk of being outrun. By other strong apex
predators, by its limited genetic diversity, by illegal wildlife pet trade in Cheetah cubs.
At the Big Cat Sanctuary we have a track record of successful breeding efforts with our resident cats through
participation in European Endangered Species (EEP) breeding programmes.
Maintaining a healthy captive population is vital for
conservation of the species in the wild.
Between 22-29 April we are running our Born to Run campaign
for the African Cheetah. Funds raised go to a brand-new spacious Cheetah Breeding
Centre and grassroot conservation work in Africa.
renowned wildlife artists Danielle Tomlinson and Lucy d'Auvergne are donating two unique art works for auction, with proceeds going towards our Born to Run campaign.

‘Poised’ captures a female cheetah on the cusp of movement—alert, balanced, and alive with intent. The piece is rooted in memories of an exquisite cheetah I was fortunate enough to observe over many weeks in Kenya. Spending time with cheetahs in the wild revealed their remarkable intelligence and sensitivity, as well as a quiet vulnerability beneath their elegance and speed. The sculpture is a reflection on both the grace of the species and the uncertainty of the landscapes they call home.
Size: 40cm high including granite base. Limited edition of 24. Materials: Cold-cast slate with raw Earth pigments on granite base. Each piece is hand cast and coloured by me, so each one of the edition is unique.
Kindly donated by Lucy d'Auvergne

Willow the Cheetah 90 x 90 cm / Mixed Media on Canvas / 2026
Willow is a unique cheetah, hand-reared in a home after breaking her toe and cared for at the Big Cat Sanctuary ever since. She’s a big part of the family, so it was important that this piece captured her.
I chose to paint her head-on, eyes locked, a moment of connection, but also to show off her face card.. because honestly, she’s the prettiest cheetah I’ve ever seen!!!
After meeting Willow, I decided to use unlikely marks and colour combinations to bring out personality over realism. You can see neon oranges for her rich fur coat, shaky spray paint for her loud purr, and flashes of hot pink for that sass. I also noticed a few quirks I wanted to capture. Willow’s tear stripes are particularly thick, which makes her face very distinct from other cheetahs. Also, the markings from the outer corners of her eyes form a continuous line rather than breaking into spots. I also emphasised the fluffiness through her shoulders. All subtle details, but ones that make her unmistakably Willow. I found the painting process interesting, what kept circling in my head is that there’s fewer than 7,100 remain in the wild.
So shockingly little, yet the first animal we learnt the name of as children. What does it mean to be ‘as fast as a cheetah’? If there’s none left?
The tension between power and speed but living on the knife edge is a sad paradox, and one we can help change.
I’m donating 100% of the profits of this painting to the sanctuary to help support cheetah’s just like Willow and the vital conservation needed for their futures.
By bidding or grabbing a print, you’re directly supporting this, and Big Give are matching it… so it goes twice as far.
Thank you so much and I hope you like my Willow painting!

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another
member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new
maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
