Under One Sky Fundraising AuctionRead more ...
Under One Sky (UOS) is volunteer-led initiative which had supported more than 4,000 people living on the streets of London between Xmas 2012 & Xmas 2019 since 2012.
On April 2nd 2020, in direct response to the Covid-19 crisis, our emergency volunteer teams, along with partner organisations, have been going out in central London every day to deliver hot food and drinks to the rough sleepers who have been left behind. Since that time, we have served over 30,000 meals to our homeless friends.
As lockdown restrictions ease, and regular homelessness support services begin to resume, we are looking to the future and how we can best continue to serve those who find themselves without a safe place to call home.
We’re delighted to launch this special fundraising auction. There are three key areas we are now focusing on, and all funds raised will directly support these goals:
Central London Outreach
As life begins to return to normal, with shops and services re-opening, and more people returning to work, the landscape in Central London will change once more. Whilst our daily meal service will no longer be required, we aim to continue running a smaller operation of volunteers going out regularly to maintain contact with our homeless friends, sharing conversation, support and essential supplies (sleeping bags, mobile phones, tents, clothing etc) as needed.
£40,000 will provide 1000 homeless friends with a survival bundle containing a sleeping bag, a rucksack, rain poncho, toiletries, socks and underwear.
Domestic & International Expansion
Since 2012, Under One Sky has been going out each Winter to distribute support packages with food, clothes, toiletries, sleeping bags, gift cards, books, and messages of hope & light, to people living through very dark times. The gift cards are used to buy tents, winter clothes and other necessities, offering the recipient choice in how they spend it.
We are currently active in London, Cambridge and Madrid, and plan to expand to include additional UK cities, Paris and Berlin.
With monies raised we can begin our UK expansion to cover London, Cambridge, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester:
will deliver one distribution event, also known as ‘Skywalks’, in each of these eight cities over Winter 2020.
£168,000 will deliver two Skywalks in each city, £252,000 will deliver three Skywalks in each city
Lockdown has demonstrated just how connected we all are to one another, and how many individuals have a desire to help and support. Often, we just don’t know how, when or where we are needed.
We have a vision to design and build an app which will enable people living on the streets to identify a small need (food, drink, clothing, toiletries etc), and for other members of their wider communities, who live or work nearby, to pick up those requests and deliver them as part of their daily routine. It’s simple, but incredibly powerful. We envisage practical needs being met, whilst providing opportunities for people to connect with one another at the moment of delivery.
£20,000 will provide the funds needed to scope out the platform and build an MVP (minimal viable product) for a pilot launch.
£120,000 will enable us to go on and built out the app, test and fully launch.
Place a bid on one of our exciting lots or continue to support our usual fundraising efforts with your donations.
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
