An auction of 100 original pieces of art works produced by award winning, acclaimed and emerging artists from the UK and USA. 100 artworks capturing beyond words the strength, hope and desire to embrace life inspired by 100 women who have shared their scars as part of the UK Scars of Gold campaign.

Mortal And Strong is proud to present our inaugural Scars of Gold event: Combining the power of art for the purpose of health awareness. Across 2024 and 2025 this UK charity has produced a health campaign like no other, on a scale like no other. 100 Voices from across the UK were interviewed to share their story of facing life changing or life limiting health conditions at a young age. These interviews were shared on our charity podcast and became an international hit. Each Voice had their photography done for a powerful series inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi - using real gold leaf to highlight their scars to demonstrate the beauty and strength born from facing their mortality. Then artists from across the UK and USA responded to an open call to produce 100 artworks - 1 artwork for each Voice. A collective of 100 interviews, 100 pieces of photography and 100 artworks are being presented in London for Women's Health Week 2025 at an event like no other. Alongside the exhibition the week will host industry leading expert professionals to provide health talks on a wide range of topics to help guide and support anyone with any health problem.

This campaign concept was produced by Dr Liz Murray BCA(h) who was presented with the British Citizen Award for her services to health. Dr Liz Murray is an award winning doctor and artist who left her clinical role as a doctor after ten years of service due to facing her own life changing health issues. Working alongside campaign co-director and photographer Sammy Weston, the two volunteered a year of their time and skills for free to produce this incredible campaign to support the charity Mortal And Strong.
