The SMF proudly presents the third Sanjay Mortimer RepRap Festival (SMRRF), a spectacular, family friendly event, taking place on 7th and 8th, March 2026, at The Dalton Building , Manchester Metropolitan University. The UK's leading RepRap Festival, SMRRF promises to draw enthusiasts and industry leaders from around the globe.
Our supporters and exhibitors have continued their generosity and have contributed fantastic prizes for our online auction.
IMPORTANT: This auction will be ONLINE ONLY. The auction will close at 4pm (GMT) on Sunday 8th March. If you can't be online at this time, just enter your proxy (maximum bid) so you don't miss out! You do not have to attend SMRRF to bid for an item. Your items will be shipped to you free of charge after SMRRF.

An extremely rare opportunity to own a bespoke, custom-designed T-shirt printed on a Stratasys PolyJet J850 FabriX - a machine so rare that this is the only one at a University in the UK, and one of just a handful accessible in all of Europe!
The printer access will be kindly supplied by PrintCity and the Robotics Living Lab at Manchester Metropolitan University.

This MakerBot Thing-O-Matic comes from Paulo Kiefe, co-inventor of the 3DBenchy, and is being kindly donated to support the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation (SMF). Alongside the CupCake CNC (also in our Auction) and the MakerBot Replicator 1 and MakerBot Replicator 2 (featured in the SMRRF Raffles*), this machine represents an early chapter in desktop 3D printing’s history.
Released in September 2010, the Thing-O-Matic was MakerBot’s second major 3D printer kit, building on the legacy of the CupCake CNC with meaningful advancements that expanded what hobbyists and makers could do at the time.
What made the Thing-O-Matic special:
• It introduced a heated, automated build platform, a conveyor-style surface that could eject finished prints and enable serial printing without constant intervention.
• It included upgraded electronics, a refined Z-stage, and the MakerBot MK5 plastruder, improving reliability and ease of use compared with its predecessor.
• Like the CupCake and early Replicators, it was open-source, meaning designs and files were shared with the maker community to inspire innovation and modification.
The Thing-O-Matic sits at a fascinating moment in the evolution of desktop 3D printing, after the first wave of DIY kits like the CupCake and before the larger, more automated Replicator machines. That makes it both a collector’s piece and a tangible slice of maker culture history.

When Daniel Norée and Paulo Kiefe finalised the iconic #3DBenchy benchmark model back in 2015, they envisioned launching it with a dramatic, movie-poster-style artwork to give the little boat a larger-than-life personality right from the start. The final digital version of that poster - widely shared and still downloadable today at 3DBenchy.com - became a beloved part of the project's legacy.
But this framed poster is truly one-of-a-kind.
Created during the earliest concept phase by artists Anders Borggren and Paulo Kiefe, this original artwork was printed only once, stored away, and never publicly distributed. It even spent years proudly displayed on Daniel Norée's wall in Sweden. Most notably, it features the project's original working title: "BENCHIE" (with an "ie"), before the official name "#3DBenchy" was finalized.
Now, Daniel Norée is personally bringing this unique piece to SMRRF 2026 in Manchester to donate it for charity auction, with all proceeds supporting the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation's mission to inspire neurodivergent young people in STEM.

3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
