Chandikalika- Rebuilding a school
We are holding a fundraising evening, to be
hosted by Farleigh, in aid of The Gurkha Welfare Trust and its rebuilding and
refurbishment of Chandikalika school. A
boarding school for severely deaf children in Syangja district, about an hour’s
drive from Pokhara. Part of the school and
the boarding hostel were severely damaged in the earthquake and, with no
funding to repair the building, the children are still living there at some
risk to themselves as any future tremors are likely to cause its complete
collapse.
On Saturday
3rd February 2018 we will have a Gurkha curry evening with
traditional Gurkha entertainment and a silent and live auction with the
intention of raising a minimum of £80,000 for Chandikalika.
