Eric Liddell Centre 2019 Going for Gold Gala

About the Eric Liddell Centre

The Eric Liddell Centre is a registered care charity (Scottish Charity No: SC003147) and Edinburgh community hub, providing a wide range of services dedicated to inspiring, empowering and supporting people of all ages.  We specialise in care for the elderly and dementia services with the aim of supporting people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Our mission is to be at the heart of the community, enhancing health and wellbeing and improving people's lives. This is delivered through several programmes:

  • Dementia Day Care: a person-centred day care service to 70 clients per week who have a diagnosis of dementia with the aim to reduce social isolation and promote independence.

  • Befriending: matches carers to trained volunteers with the aim to help rebuild a carer’s sense of confidence, inclusion and self-esteem, which in turn promotes increased well-being.

  • Carer Programme: free wellness classes for unpaid carers to reduce stress and provide a break.

  • Lunch Breaks: weekly meetings of cared for and carers to share lunch and enrichment activities.

  • Befriending for people living with Dementia & Dementia Friendly Saturday morning drop-in coffee sessions

  • Caring Soles: a footcare service promoting health and wellbeing and helping reduce social isolation

    About the Event

The Going for Gold Eric Liddell Centre Fundraising Gala will be held in the President’s Suite at BT Murrayfield Stadium on Friday 26th April 2019. We are fortunate to have secured Scotland’s most decorated track and field athlete of all time, Eilidh Doyle, as our sporting special guest speaker.

We are delighted to be able to confirm that our Master of Ceremonies will be Gavin Hastings OBE – Former Captain of the British Lions and the Scottish International Rugby Team.

The evening starts with members of the award winning George Watson College Pipe Band, as they welcome guests pitch side, prior to a drinks reception at 7pm, followed by a three-course dinner, our guest speaker and a silent and live auction. We are delighted to welcome Paul Roberts, Vice Chairman of Lyon & Turnbull as our auctioneer for the evening.

Auction prize donations and sponsors will be recognised for their role and generosity in promotional materials, press releases and on the evening.
