Lander4Uganda is a group of Richard Lander School students and staff who are dedicating this year to improving the lives of children in our African partner schools.
The 49 Richard Lander School students and 10 staff are spending this year fundraising to pay for building materials and educational resources for the Molly and Paul schools in Bunjakko and Kamuzinda, Uganda.
In June 2025 the team will travel to Uganda to spend the money we have raised, deciding, alongside the Molly and Paul School staff, the most important jobs to prioritise. You may have heard that the Pearl of Africa Children's Choir had their visas refused last November which has denied the schools a vital source of income.
Our students and teachers are diligently working towards a fundraising goal of £25,000. We have been busy hosting school events and selling donuts and crafts... and we are now launching a silent auction!
Your support would contribute directly to our cause, as we operate with zero administrative costs. Students ‘tickets’ are self-funded or funded through the Turing Fund. Therefore, all finds raised by this auction will be utilised to purchase building materials and essential supplies for the schools and orphanages we work with in Uganda. In previous years, our efforts have included repairing classrooms, building facilities, installing solar electricity, and providing essential amenities for the children. Following his Sold Out tour in 2024, Jake Bugg announces 6 more Your Town Tour dates this summer 2025, which will see him play headline dates across the UK at some of the country’s smaller towns & venues, bringing live music back to the heart of community…
Kicking off in Reading, Jake will perform two sets per night, acoustic and electric, rattling through his biggest hits, as well as tracks from his latest album, A Modern Day Distraction.
With local venues constantly under threat of closure, and grassroots music scenes dwindling, the Your Town Tour is Jake’s bid to bring a high profile live show back to some of the country’s towns that have seen drop offs in big touring artists visiting in recent years.
Over the last few years, the 30-year-old, who has 6 albums and numerous hit singles to his name, has gone from strength to strength. He stepped out of his comfort zone and is in the form of his life. His new music is embraced across the media. A Modern Day Distraction’s standout track list is a return to the Jake of his earlier days and he will be playing all the standout tracks from Two Fingers to Zombieland and everything in between.
