On the 15^th June I will be one of 12 amateur riders to take part in the Macmillan Ride for their Lives charity race at York Racecourse This is a 1m 1furlong race on the flat , all riders have to pass the official jockey fitness test the professional jockeys have to pass, we will be riding horses who are all in training and who have kindly been offered for the race by their owners and syndicates.

I am taking part in this event as the charity have been amazing in helping my family and friends, my grandpop and more recently my aunt passed away from cancer and my father was diagnosed last year. Following surgery my father is currently clear but Macmillan have been an amazing support. I have the most amazing personal trainer helping me with the fitness side of things. Russ is currently undergoing treatment for two types of brain cancer and despite trips to the hospital for fluid and blood transfusions he has been with me every step of the way so far.

Combining my love for a challenge, horses and racing I was pointed in the direction of the race at York. I and am so honoured to have been selected amongst a great bunch of other riders. I wanted to take part in something that was a challenge but also where I could do more to help raise important funds to help keep Macmillan going and giving the support to those that need it. The Macmillan Charity Raceday is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country, raising over £10 million in its 52 year history for people living with cancer.
