Molly Arbuthnott had been a teacher for seven years before completing a Masters in Children’s Literature at Glasgow University and, from there, becoming a writer of children’s books. 'A Pilgrim in Spain' describes Howse’s journeys across Spain. He follows in the footsteps of El Cid and Saint Dominic, examines Saint Teresa’s arm, finds the spot where Saint John of the Cross escaped from prison and discovers the world’s largest remnant of the true cross in a mountain shrine. With an eye for the humorous and strange, Howse explores the ancient culture of Spain, from Santiago de Compostela to Extremadura and Segovia. Christopher Howse is an assistant editor of The Daily Telegraph, and is a regular contributor to The Tablet and The Spectator. His best-selling books include Prayers for this Life, and The Assurance of Hope. This book emerges from spending more than two decades exploring Spain. For him, its centuries-old cathedrals, monasteries and shrines demand pilgrimage more than tourism.

The successful bidder and one other person will take part in a blending workshop, where the participants learn about blending whisky and create their own blend to take home with them.
This Scottish Whisky Blending workshop allows you to create a bespoke whisky blend using specially selected single malts, and so emulate the techniques of Isabella Wemyss, Kingsbarns’ own blender. First, you will gain insight into how signature blends are crafted, such as The Hive, Spice King, and Peat Chimney. From there, you will then blend your own whisky and take home a miniature bottle of your creation.
At Kingsbarns Distillery, rated 5 stars on TripAdvisor, the master distillers embrace the changing seasons to craft a continually evolving collection of exceptional malt whiskies and gins. The distillery, set in a restored 18th-century farm steading, is located near St Andrews, in the scenic East Neuk of Fife. Indeed, tradition and craftsmanship come together in the heart of Fife.

The successful bidder will receive two tickets to the “Faith in the Footlights: The Spiritual Resonances of Musical Theatre” concert of the Schola Cantorum at St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral.
Two tickets are available for the forthcoming concert of the Schola Cantorum at St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral on the evening of Tuesday 12th August. "Faith in the Footlights: The Spiritual Resonances of Musical Theatre" is part of Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts.
In this groundbreaking event, which brings together live presentation and musical performance, author Ian Bradley will uncover some of the theological implications of musical shows, while the renowned Schola Cantorum of St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral will bring the music to life. During the evening, the search for the divine will include songs from shows like The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof, Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables and more, together with drawing upon new insights from Bradley’s latest book, Music of the night: Religious Influences and Spiritual Resonances in Operetta and Musical Theatre. Radley considers “musicals provide millions of people across the world not just with entertainment and escapism but with spiritual and theological values, a philosophy of life and an encounter with God”. Be prepared: you will never hear these musical shows in quite the same way again!
