Welcome to Bins of Congleton - litter receptacles that other towns can only ever dream of!

For me, the Bins are to Congleton what the Pyramids are to Epypt. They add a certain charm, warmth and personality to this special place that 28,000 people, including myself, call home. The real secret is that none of our bins ever get replaced - so as the town continues to evolve, the variety of receptacles increases!

At the start of January 2024 I took my 1st photo of a litterbin in Congleton Park - a green and gold contraption with a wonky lid - and posted it on instagram page: @bins_of_congleton

And here I am, 18 months later, having walked every street, alleyway and towpath, visited every green space, churchyard and shopping precinct. I have photographed and chronicled 144 different local litter bins.

As everyone will remember from their school days, 144 is a perfect 12 x 12 square - so the opportunity to create a piece of art to capture the journey so far, seemed too good to miss!

It's fun, a little absurd, but also a piece of unique art that will offer a sideways glimpse in to Congleton life for years to come.
