Pastel on prepared canvas on board
Image size 40 x 56 cm
Framed size 59 x 75 cm
Year created 2015
Fair Market Value £600
Artist Statement:
Pauline has an acquired profound deafness and is deeply interested in the role our senses play in creativity. She often works without a hearing aid, in complete silence, and sometimes closes her eyes while making marks—working without two senses at once. Pauline believes her deaf perspective brings a unique and positive influence to her practice, shaping colour, aesthetics, and rationality, and allowing her to access greater depths of expression.
Her work combines pastel layered over acrylic and charcoal on prepared paper. She values the immediacy of colour and the tactile, hands-on quality of pastel, which enables her to create dynamic and imaginative imagery. As an SGI Nichiren Buddhist, Pauline’s philosophy underpins her artistic aims—seeking beauty, vibrancy, and the creation of value.
Artist Biography:
For over 20 years, Pauline has championed and advanced the Deaf and disability arts movement. She was awarded an Arts Council England Research and Development Grant, leading to the creation of a multimedia installation in collaboration with sound artist Jon Adams and filmmaker Caglar Kimyoncu. The work explored her personal journey through employment and disability discrimination.
Her creative practice has included working with the Tate Movie Project at Turner Contemporary, leading projects with Youth Offenders through Stour Valley Arts, and collaborating with junior schools at Turner Contemporary, Margate.
In recent years, Pauline has been an active member of the art collective at Chalk Gallery, Lewes. Now firmly established as a local artist, she continues to evolve her practice and explore new creative directions.

Oil on Canvas
50x40cm
Unframed
Year made: 2024
Fair market value: £1,500
Artist Statement
Michael Slusakowicz works predominantly in painting, drawing, and video. In painting, he often develops sequential series, each confronting the viewer with a sense of paranormal mystery. His practice seeks to capture intimate, fleeting moments of time—such as the flicker of a candle flame.
Through the use of supernatural figures and esoteric objects, rendered in an analogous colour palette, his imagery hovers between visibility and concealment. Careful observation reveals layers of embodied cognition beneath the surface. His work penetrates a veiled side of contemporary society, searching for the pure core of humanity—its darkness and light, its needs and desires, its bravery and its fears.
Artist Biography
Polish-born artist Michael Slusakowicz graduated with First Class Honours in BA Painting from Camberwell College of Arts. His work has been exhibited internationally, and he has participated in numerous art fairs worldwide. He lives and works in London.
Primarily working on canvas, Slusakowicz explores paranormal mystery through imagery that captures transient moments, such as the flicker of light. His brightly coloured patterns and recurring motifs emerge from what he describes as a “subconscious dream world—both familiar and detached from reality.” By weaving tonality and colour into this language, his works invite viewers to uncover layered meanings and form their own interpretations.

Oil paint, Oil Stick & Soft Pastel on Khadi Paper
Framed size: 65x46cm
Year made: 2024
Fair market value: £550
Artist statement:
Marigold was awarded an Arts Council Grant in 2023 to develop her painting practice. On Self-Expression is a part of a series of small mixed-media works that evolved from the Programme. Inner and outer landscapes were drawn upon for inspiration, intuitively developing her compositions through the use of line, form and colour. Soft pastel, oil paint and oil bar combine in unexpected ways and become an integral part of the composition and making process. This way of exploring mark-making and self-expression is a new exciting part of Marigold’s practice; looking beyond what is in front of her to confront what lies beneath.
Artist Biography:
Marigold is a Kent based artist, working in both print and paint, she has an MA in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts (UAL) and a BA in Social Anthropology. She currently teaches printmaking from her studio at home and editions for Artichoke Print Workshop in London. She has also spent time teaching with Kent Adult Education in Tunbridge Wells. She regularly exhibits nationally and locally, previously with the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and the ING Discerning Eye in London. She was shortlisted for this year's Jackson’s Art Prize and has won several prizes in printmaking, most significantly the Ingram Graduate Prize in 2020.

Relief Print
Framed size; 42 x 32cm
Year made: 2024
Fair Market value: £200
Artist Statement: Sonia’s prints explore the relationship between the manufactured and the handcrafted. Over a number of years, she has developed a distinctive printing process that makes use of discarded plastic packaging with intricate moulded surfaces. By cutting, rearranging, and assembling different sections of these containers, she creates plates from which she prints unique images.
This juxtaposition of mass-produced plastic with the imperfections and unpredictability of hand-crafted printmaking returns the work to the human scale — from the anonymous, industrial product back to the individual touch. Her practice also reflects on the environmental consequences of plastic waste and the wider impact of consumer culture on society.
Influenced by modernism, Sonia creates prints that are one-of-a-kind. Her considered use of colour is central to her practice, bringing vibrancy and depth to each work.

Ember Veil
Acrylic underpainting, finished in oils on canvas
Unframed size: 75 x 75cm
Year made: 2025
Fair market value: £220
Artist Statement: Yvonne works in a semi-abstract style, allowing intuition to guide the development of each painting. Her process is less about strict representation and more about capturing atmosphere, mood, and movement through colour and texture. Ember Veil is painted on a 75cm square cotton canvas, using a palette of rich, autumnal tones in acrylics and oil paints. The artist sought to create a sense of drifting landscapes, shifting and reforming in the viewer’s imagination. Rather than depicting a fixed scene, the painting invites reflection on change, much like the turning of the seasons.
The work aims to evoke both a sense of grounding in the natural world and freedom to wander inward, allowing the colours and forms to stir personal associations.
Artist Biography: Yvonne Mills is a self-taught artist based in Gosport, Hampshire. She began
painting later in life, following retirement and the passing of her husband – a
turning point that led her to explore art as a form of personal expression and
healing.
Working primarily in oil paints, Yvonne creates abstract and semi-abstract
works, that reflect emotion, memory and transformation. Her style is intuitive
and expressive, often guided by mood and colour, rather than strict form or
representation. Her paintings have been exhibited in several local galleries across Hampshire, where they’ve resonated with viewers, drawn to their texture, depth and quiet strength.Yvonne continues to develop her artistic voice, with the freedom ofabstraction, inspired by nature and changing skies and the joy of lifelong
learning through creativity.

Oil on canvas
Image size: 25.5 x 20cm
Unframed
Year made: 2025
Fair Market Value:
Artist statement: Henrietta is endlessly captivated by the human condition—its fractures and paradoxes, its ceaseless dance between doubt and desire, curiosity and surrender. To live feels at once immeasurably complex and disarmingly simple: an infinite well to plunge into, yet also quicksand, slipping away grain by grain, as Plath reminds us. She often envisions the hourglass overturned, every moment felt in its fullness, yet still dissolving as she tries to hold it. From this tension—between presence and passing, weight and lightness—her work takes root.
Her practice moves fluidly beyond both figure and landscape, carrying the same intensity throughout.
Artist Biography: Henrietta recently had an exhibition at the Canal Boat Contemporary. She also shows her work at the Lido Stores in Margate and has work hanging in various Soho House collections such as Little Balham House, Dean Street and Manchester.

Acrylic and Gouache
Framed size 42 x 42cm
Fair market value: £450
Artist statement: Jane works in painting, drawing and sculpture using abstraction to express her ideas. She describes herself as a process artist who works conceptually and who is interested in human frailty. Through her art Jane explores our sense of connection; what we 'root' to or with; not just to each other but to: place, landscape/environment, our history, memories and social culture. In exploring these connections she is interested in events or changes that aggravate social disconnect. For example when a rupture happens, such as: war, climate change, migration, loss, bereavement or social change; things that happen that provoke human frailty. She doesn't aim to make a social or political comment through her art, preferring to provoke thought and conversation. Having previously studied History there is a significant nod to historical similarities in what she observes in the present, the sense of the circularity to life is prominent in her work and shape and form have developed into her own artistic language. Jane aims to disconnect time and place; for her it is as much about what is overlooked as much as what is visible on the canvas or contained in the sculpture.

Sealed superior quality imitation goldleaf, painted in acrylics
Image size: 20 x 50 x 3.5cm
Unframed
Year made; 2024
Artist statement: This painting of cascading wisteria over a glowing backdrop of gold leaf is inspired by the fragility, but astonishing resilience of nature. In Japanese art, wisteria (fuji, 藤) symbolises enduring love, humility, and
elegance, and the Kanji character is written at the bottom of the canvas. Louise often uses gold leaf to represent light, hope, and preciousness—themes that feel especially poignant in the context of this auction. Louise is drawn to creating glowing artworks that shift with the light from day to night—magical pieces that bring moments of calm and solace in a troubled world.
Artist biography: Louise Dean is a local artist and teacher whose work explores the interplay of light, nature, and Chinoiserie-inspired style through gold leaf and paint. With a background in teaching adults, she has spent the past decade inspiring others to discover their creativity while developing her own lifelong art
practice. Her work ranges from intimate botanical and bird studies to large-scale commissions for private and public spaces. Louise’s art has been exhibited in the UK and collected internationally. She also shares her creative process and gold leaf techniques on her YouTube channel, connecting with audiences around the world.

Oi on wood
Image size: 25 x 28 x4cm
Unframed
Year made: 2025
Fair Market Value: £550
Artist statement: This oil on wood is a multidimensional artwork. It explores the mystery of life through nature, examining the boundaries of reality and capturing a fleeting moment of magic as light dawns on a new day through a tree and reflects on the water beneath. Trees are deeply connected with the Palestinian struggle and legacy, serving as time capsules for humanity as a whole. They carry memory from one generation to another and stand as wisdom keepers. On the back of the piece, a poem is inscribed—an extract from a conversation with Mahmoud, a close friend in Palestine, who discovered his gift for writing within the struggle. His words are powerful, resonant like the force of nature itself. They are living words, meaning exactly what they are. The artist’s work is similar. It is not a pastime but a form of expression that speaks in its own language. For those who resonate, it is deeply felt; for those who do not, it may pass unnoticed. Like a tree, art carries powerful messages, energy, and meaning to the next generation—yet many walk past without realixing its presence.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
