Your activity in this auction helps our ongoing costs, averaging £120 a month, to keep our much-loved Fionn Mac Cumhaill alive.

In 2015, Fionn,  a Labradoodle, was diagnosed with a serious illness known as Addison's.  When he  first became ill, family and friends leaped to his aid and raised TWO THOUSAND POUNDS -  the initial cost of saving his life at that time.

Having a dog with Addison's disease is challenging, but when they have won such a huge place in your life and your heart, those challenges become a part of daily life. Getting up during the night for sickness, vomiting and the mad rush to the outside loo, constant vigilance, being  aware of the environmental stresses during every moment of the day, being mindful and sensitive to triggers that can bring on an Addisonian crisis and the subtle signs such as tremors, food refusal, dip in energy, muscle cramps and weakness.

Multiple veterinary visits, blood tests, enzyme levels, manifold expensive medications with side effects, constantly assessing diet and exercise, worrying about drastic changes in hot and cold, checking for dehydration, checking labels on goods and treats, not being able to leave for any length of time or without a fully aware dog sitter trained in all aspects of watching for the signs. Plus the not being able to go places or do things because he is sick and trying to explain to people that fail to understand why.

The horrid stress of finances, the reduction in his healing ability and immune  system, all lead to ongoing pressures but there is one over riding factor through it all, love. Everyone in our household fiercely loves Fionn. He is a gentle soul that touches whoever he meets. Several folks have suggested the 'E' word. We haven’t spoken to them since. He might be ‘just a dog’ to some, his condition might be responsible for multiple issues that create phenomenal stresses to our family unit, to him, we are his world. Whilst there is breath in our bodies, and whilst Fionn has the options for a life filled with moments of sheer joy and love, we will do all that we can to help him.
