Welcome to the Canterbury Children’s Literature Festival Fundraising Auction
Step into a celebration of stories, creativity, and community. This special auction has been lovingly created to raise funds for the Canterbury Children’s Literature Festival, helping us bring inspiring authors, illustrators, and storytellers together with young readers across our region.
Bid on an enchanting collection of treasures, including signed books by beloved writers and illustrators, one-of-a-kind artworks, and unique Canterbury-based experiences you won’t find anywhere else.
After the success of our first year, this year we are growing, increasing the festival to 7 days by running even more free school author/illustrator visits, and increasing the number of events over the festival weekend. But to do this, we need your support.
You can help us by bidding on an item or experience, or by simply clicking the button to make a one-off donation. Every winning bid directly supports the Festival, nurturing a lifelong love of reading and imagination throughout Canterbury and beyond.
Close.

Meet the Rocks.
Dad is a rock guitarist, Pops is the singer, Liv is the drummer, and Bo is keyboardist and writes the lyrics. Oh, and Nan and the dog are in the band too. It's a household of big shoes, big hair, and GLAM ROCK. Except for the youngest child, Sam. Sam is a flautist who likes peace, quiet and classical music. He doesn't feel like he fits in and he's dreading his end-of-year school recital. Can he trust his family to sit and listen?
But when stage fright hits, maybe Sam's rocking, grooving, clanging family might be just what he needs.
Donated to the Festival by writer Rob Tregoning, this copy will be signed and personalised by Rob after the auction.

This is a one off auction, offering you the opportunity to own a little bit of 'behind the scenes' illustration and literary history.
'Don't ask the dragon' is a beautiful children's book written by Lemm Sissay and illustrated by Greg Stobbs. It tells the story of a little boy called Alem who goes on an adventure. It's his birthday, but who knows where he can go to celebrate it? Maybe the bear, the fox, the treefrog or the bulldog know? But don't ask the dragon.
By bidding on this auction, you will receive two original sketches, kindly donated by Greg Stobbs himself. The drawings are both concept sketches, original ideas for the book. This is a unique opportunity to own a little bit of a book/illustrator's process - something we, the reader, don't often get to see - the concept and plan before the finished article.
Alongside the two drawings, you will also receive a copy of the book, signed by Greg, offering you a chance to see the final design.
A massive thank you to Greg for his kindness in supporting us in this way. All of the profits from the auction will go towards the running of the festival this year, so please do bid generously.

Here is a rare chance to own a little piece of a story in the making.
This original painting by author and illustrator Greg Stobbs was created in conjunction with the design of Isla and the Sky. The artwork features Isla herself, full of quiet curiosity and wonder, captured in Gregg’s distinctive, expressive style. Rich colours, gentle textures, and a sense of storytelling are woven into every brushstroke.
What makes this piece especially unique is that it acts as a glimpse into the creative process behind the book. Isla’s hair has been carefully cut out of the painting, allowing Greg to experiment with different colours and backgrounds while developing the final look for the story. It’s a playful, behind-the-scenes moment from the making of the book, revealing how characters evolve before they reach the printed page.
Greg’s illustrations are loved for their warmth, imagination, and subtle humour, and this artwork shows that same spirit while also capturing a rare stage of artistic exploration. This piece is no different.
Part artwork, part storytelling artefact, this one-of-a-kind piece offers collectors and readers alike the chance to bring home a fragment of Isla’s journey, from studio experiment to finished story.
As well as the original painting, you will also receive a signed copy of Isla and the Sky. Images aim to show how different colours could be used when framing the item, adding a personal touch to the item when you have won it.
This painting has been kindly donated by Greg himself, with all of the profits from the sale going towards the running of this year's Canterbury Children's Literature Festival.

1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.

For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
