Legendary guitarist Earl Slick, David Bowie's longest-standing lead guitarist, is set to release a brand-new remixed version of a track with Bowie on vocals 8 November 2024 on limited edition 7" coloured vinyl.

Earl Slick and David Bowie's partnership produced some of rock's most memorable music. In celebration of his recent autobiography "Guitar" published by Penguin achieving #1 on Amazon, Slick is now sharing this musical treasure.

Slick recounted a particularly serendipitous moment: "I would never have thought to ask David to sing on my record. It's not that we weren't close -- we'd known each other forever -- but it just wasn't something that would have occurred to me. But when I called Mark Plati at the studio one day to talk about some sessions I wanted to do, it turned out

David was there. He got wind of what we were planning and asked to talk to me. 'I guess you're not interested in me maybe doing a little something on the record?' It was a silly question, of course. And what I figured would be some percussion or 12-string guitar turned into lyrics and an amazing vocal. I'm really excited to finally be able to share it with the world!"

Producer Mark Plati echoed the excitement, saying, "One of the highlights of my career was being in the room when Earl Slick and David Bowie wrote 'Isn't It Evening', and then having the privilege to help bring it to life."

Legendary mixer Bob Clearmountain, who worked on this new version, added, "It was such a thrill and an honour to be working on a David Bowie song again! Recording and mixing the 'Let's Dance' album was certainly one of the high points of my career. His passing was a real shock for me as we had become long-distance friends. Mixing his voice somehow made me feel close to him again."

Following open heart surgery, poet and writer Peter Carpenter was given one instruction - 'Walk, if you want to stay on this planet'. And so when his hero and inspiration David Bowie died in 2016, he knew what he had to do. The man who was to so many a companion and guide had left no shrine, no focal point of understanding. To reconnect with Bowie, he would take a walk into the past, to the streets, towns and places where David Jones became something more.

Walking to recover, to stay alive, Peter realised he was also recovering his lost hero. Leaving behind Heddon Street and Brixton, well-known Bowie shrines, he moved out through South London edgelands and suburbia to remoter Bowie haunts: Croydon, Aylesbury, Pett Level, Southend-on-Sea. Finding the windows Bowie had stared out from in Clareville Grove; the streets in Beckenham where he'd scurried by. He sifted through debris on a patch of waste ground in Tunbridge Wells where Bowie's parents first met. He turned the handle and entered Shirley Parish Hall to find the same stage where a young Davy Jones and the Kon-Rads set up to play back in 1962; and travelled to Berlin, to emerge from the S-Bahn to gape at the ruined portico of the Anhalter Bahnhof and asked 'What is this?'

In Bowieland, Carpenter's peripatetic trampings seem to echo Bowie's own wandering creative spirit, the walks often uncovering hidden layers, and making fresh connections to key Bowie stories, revealing influences conscious and subconscious. Through walking, an understanding is reached of where Bowie sits in the culture, his place among the poets, painters, artists and musicians who came before him, who inhabited the same spaces and in doing so passed on their wisdom to Bowie.

Strictly limited edition cassette of David Bowie’s unreleased album ‘Toy’ from 2000. The special edition album format comes as a recycled green coloured cassette, with a recycled O card packaging, and is limited 10,000 WW.

The 12 track album was recorded following David's triumphant Glastonbury 2000 performance. Bowie entered the studio with his band, to record new interpretations of songs he’d first recorded from 1964-1971, but ultimately it was never released.

David Bowie seems to be the most popular man in the world of adult colouring books, so I apologise if I’m adding to an already saturated market with this book of brand-new images, all specially drawn by me. Here you’ll find my selection of the Top 20 Bowie songs, with an image for each.

Obviously there’s been some whittling down, sometimes because there was no really good image to go with the song – so no Laughing Gnome or Fame I’m afraid – or because I didn’t want too many from the same time period. And there was no room for any Tin Machine, which I’m sure has disappointed millions. After his breakthrough with Ziggy Stardust and before his U.S. pop hits "Fame" and "Golden Years" David Bowie produced a dark and difficult concept album set in a post-apocalyptic "Hunger City" populated by post-human "mutants." Diamond Dogs includes the great glam anthem "Rebel Rebel" and utterly unique songs that combine lush romantic piano and nearly operatic singing with scratching, grungy guitars, creepy, insidious noises, and dark, pessimistic lyrics that reflect the album's origins in a projected Broadway musical version of Orwell's 1984 and Bowie's formative encounter with William S. Burroughs.

In this book Glenn Hendler shows that each song on Diamond Dogs shifts the ground under you as you listen, not just by changing in musical style, but by being sung by a different "I" who directly addresses a different "you." Diamond Dogs is the product of a performer at the peak of his powers but uncomfortable with the rock star role he had constructed. All of the album's influences looked to Bowie like ways of escaping not just the Ziggy role, but also the constraints of race, gender, sexuality, and nationality. These are just some of the reasons many Bowie fans rate Diamond Dogs his richest and most important album of the 1970s.

His latest album is the cocaine-fuelled Station To Station (Bowie: "I know it was recorded in LA because I read it was"), which welds R&B rhythms to lyrics that mix the occult with a yearning for Europe, after three mad years in the New World.

Bowie has long been haunted by the angst-ridden, emotional work of the Die Brucke movement and the Expressionists. Berlin is their spiritual home, and after a chaotic world tour, Bowie adopts this city as his new sanctuary. Immediately he sets to work on Low, his own expressionist mood-piece.
