“Hear Our Voice”, this original pastel painting, is the coming together of two people, a photographer and an artist, connected through the world of trail hunting, who wish to raise funds and awareness of the true impact a ban on legal trail hunting will have.  I, the artist, returned to riding and then trail hunting after the loss of both of my parents. I had always ridden and was brought up in rural Lincolnshire on the family farm. Trail hunting, the riding, the hounds and the whole community have been a huge support to me and the  “therapy” I needed at a sad and distressing time in my life. My daughter and husband joined me and as a family we’ve met many wonderful people, many now dear friends. One of those friends is Bryan Pye, a photographer who follows the hunts, capturing wonderful images of our days in the countryside. He is so passionate about the hounds he has followed since childhood with his own father. Bry is battling cancer and is very clear that his love of following hounds is what is driving him forward through his treatment. We spoke recently about one of his images which I believed represented the serious battle we as a trail hunting community are now facing, a hound speaking in full voice. We hope to raise as much as possible to support the “Future For Hunting” campaign being run jointly by the British Hound Sports Association and the Countryside Alliance by auctioning this original, professionally framed painting.
