We have a pair of signed boxing gloves by the WBC cruiserweight boxer
'Bomber' Tony Bellew which he donated to help raise money for a Brain
Scanner in memory of the late Mike Towell.
Mike's partner Chloe and
Mum Tracey are raising funds and have set a target of £13, 000 so they
can purchase a Brain Scanner which can be used to scan boxers prior to
fights to detect any abnormalities in the brain. 'IRON' Mike Towell
sadly passed away in september of last year after stepping in the ring
for a final time at his British Title Eliminator fight. He had
complained of sore heads prior to his fight and requested on several
occasions a brain scan, however it had been dismissed by doctors as a
migraine. In the 5th round Mike collapsed and was rushed to hospital and
placed in an induced coma where he then sadly passed. The family wish
to raise the money for a scanner in the hope of preventing any simmilar
tragedies.
This is just one of the fundraising activities taking place to raise their total.
