Bid for a unique, behind-the-scenes experience: spend 7 nights with Democracy Volunteers observing the Northern Ireland Assembly elections in May 2027. You’ll join a non-partisan team visiting polling stations and the count, noting accessibility and procedures, and helping produce practical recommendations that strengthen elections. Northern Ireland elects its Assembly by Single Transferable Vote (STV), so the count is a hand count that unfolds stage by stage, often over more than one day. It’s one of the most absorbing counts in the UK to watch.
What’s included:
7 nights’ accommodation in a single room (city/town base near the observation area)
Observer briefing, an overview of Northern Ireland election law and procedures (including how STV counts work), and field mentoring
Observation schedule covering advance preparation, polling day and the count
Your commitment:
Available for up to 7 consecutive nights around election week (early May 2027)
Willing to travel locally during long observation days, sometimes starting early or finishing late. STV counts can run over two days.
Important notes:
Flights and travel to Northern Ireland are not included.
Local transport during observation and expenses are covered by Democracy Volunteers; any personal extras are at your cost.
Placement is in Northern Ireland, allocated by Democracy Volunteers based on operational need.
Observation is subject to accreditation by the Electoral Commission, which Democracy Volunteers will arrange with the winner.
The prize is for one person, to be taken in May 2027; dates to be confirmed with the DV team. Non-transferable; no cash alternative.
Value £995. Only suitable for international observers not resident in the UK.

On 16th March 1976, Harold Wilson stunned the nation by announcing his resignation as Prime Minister. On 22nd March, he chaired his last Cabinet meeting at 10 Downing Street. This is the seating plan from that meeting, signed by everyone around the table.
It is hand-signed by Harold Wilson and the heavyweights of 1970s Labour, among them James Callaghan, Denis Healey, Roy Jenkins, Michael Foot, Tony Benn, Barbara Castle, Shirley Williams and Anthony Crosland. Strikingly, all six men fighting to succeed him were at the table that day, as the leadership race was under way. Within a fortnight, Callaghan would be Prime Minister.
Wilson’s famous “kitchen cabinet” signed it too: Marcia Falkender, Bernard Donoughue and Joe Haines, along with Cabinet Secretary Sir John Hunt. It is the end of an era, captured on a single sheet of paper.
It comes from the estate of Bill Housden, Harold Wilson’s personal driver, who was at his side right to the end.
Now framed with a photographic montage of Wilson’s Cabinet and his last day in office, it’s ready to hang and certain to start conversations.
Provenance: The estate of Bill Housden, chauffeur to Prime Minister Harold Wilson.

This billboard is from the second and final presidential debate between President Ronald Reagan and former Vice President Walter Mondale which took place on Sunday, October 21, 1984, in Kansas City, Missouri.
The debate is often seen as a victory for Reagan, most famously due to the line "I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience," it was received with laughter from the audience, and Mondale himself. Mondale later said that it was this moment when he realised he would lose the election.

Face to Face with History: Sir James Gunn’s Signed Portrait of Neville Chamberlain, Drawn at Downing Street
Look into those eyes. This is the man who flew to Munich and came home promising “peace for our time”, and Gunn drew him from life inside 10 Downing Street.
In 1938, the Carlton Club commissioned the celebrated portraitist James Gunn to paint the Prime Minister. This powerful head study comes from those sittings. Chamberlain’s face is modelled in rich, confident pencil, while the collar and tie are left as fluid outline, showing the hand of a master at work. It is signed “James Gunn” and inscribed “Downing St”, a record of where Gunn sat with Chamberlain.
Chamberlain (1869–1940) was Prime Minister from 1937 to 1940. He is forever linked with the policy of appeasement towards Hitler, and his time in office ended as Britain went to war. Gunn (1893–1964) was the leading portrait painter of his generation. He later painted Queen Elizabeth II, was knighted, and became a Royal Academician.
A rare and compelling original portrait of a Prime Minister at the turning point of the century. It is framed and ready to hang.
Herbert James Gunn (Scottish, 1893–1964)

A rare piece of Labour history, presented to the Prime Minister himself. This handsome Modernist presentation bowl by Caithness Glass is of generous footed form, finely engraved by Keith Budge with a spray of flowers and the inscription:
“Presented to: The Rt. Hon. Harold Wilson O.B.E., M.P., Prime Minister, by the Labour Party Scottish Council at the opening of Keir Hardie House, Glasgow, 1st March 1975.”
Keir Hardie House, named after the Labour Party’s founding father, was the party’s new Scottish headquarters. Wilson opened it a year into his second term as Prime Minister. The engraving is in a striking angular calligraphic hand, typical of 1970s studio engraving, and is signed to the foot by the engraver. The original Caithness label is still in place.
A one-off commission, made for one man on one day. It would suit any collector of political memorabilia, Labour history or Scottish studio glass, or make a memorable Christmas present for the politics enthusiast in your life.
Height: 18cm
Provenance: From the estate of Harold and Mary Wilson (Lord and Lady Wilson of Rievaulx).

Hat in hand, umbrella at his side, gazing steadily out at the viewer: this is Neville Chamberlain as the nation knew him during the most fateful years of the twentieth century.
In 1938, as Europe edged towards war, the Carlton Club commissioned the celebrated portrait painter James Gunn to paint the Prime Minister. This striking full-length pencil study belongs to that commission. It shows Chamberlain standing in a garden or park setting, his face carefully worked while the background is sketched in with quick, energetic strokes. The finished oil still hangs in the Carlton Club today.
Gunn (1893–1964) was the outstanding portraitist of his generation. He went on to paint Queen Elizabeth II, was knighted, and became a Royal Academician. Studies like this one show how a master works: confident, economical and full of life.
It is a rare chance to own an original drawing of a Prime Minister, made from life at the moment history turned. It is handsomely framed and ready to hang.

Frame: 64 × 53cm (25 × 20¾in)
Herbert James Gunn (Scottish, 1893–1964)
Portrait of Neville Chamberlain, full length, c.1937–40

Give a young person a front-row seat at democracy. Your winning bid will fund a Democracy Volunteers intern through the May 2027 elections. They will be trained as an election observer, deployed with our non-partisan teams to polling stations and counts, and will help write the recommendations we share with electoral administrators and the Electoral Commission.
Many of our interns are students or recent graduates with an interest in politics, law or public service. For many of them, the placement is their first hands-on experience of how elections actually work, and some have gone on to careers in electoral administration, policy and international observation.
What your bid funds:
Observer training, including an election law and procedures briefing and field mentoring
The intern’s accommodation and travel during the observation period
Their placement across advance preparation, polling day and the count
What you receive:
Your name (or a name of your choice) credited as the intern’s sponsor in our 2027 election report
A personal letter from your intern after the elections describing what they saw and learned
A copy of the final report, plus an invitation to an online briefing with the DV team after polling day
Important notes:
Interns are recruited and selected by Democracy Volunteers. The winning bidder cannot nominate a specific individual.
Placement location and dates are allocated by Democracy Volunteers based on operational need.
This lot is a donation towards our work and is not exchangeable for any other prize; no cash alternative.

Linocut print, sheet 18 x 12 cm
Presented in a white box frame, with a letter from the artist on the reverse
Denis Mitchell is one of the defining sculptors of the St Ives school, the remarkable group of artists who made a small Cornish fishing town an international centre of modern art in the mid-twentieth century.
Mitchell arrived in Cornwall in 1930 and lived the town’s working life to the full. He worked as a farmer, fisherman and, during the war, a tin miner, and that experience of rock, sea and landscape ran through everything he made. In 1949 he began working with Barbara Hepworth, and for a decade he was her principal assistant. He helped realise some of her most important sculptures and absorbed her mastery of carving at first hand. He was also a founder member of the Penwith Society of Arts, alongside Hepworth, Ben Nicholson and Bernard Leach, at the moment St Ives modernism found its voice.
Stepping out on his own, Mitchell developed a language entirely his own: slender, upright forms in polished bronze, wood and slate. They are elegant and serene, often evoking standing stones, the curve of a wave or the profile of the Cornish coast. His work is held in major public collections, including Tate, and he remains one of the most admired names in British abstract sculpture.
This Christmas card, cut and printed by Mitchell himself and sent to friends, distils that sculptural language into stark black and white. A tall, softly rounded form, like a standing stone or one of his own carvings, rises over broken lines of sea. At its heart is a split oval of radiating marks, part seed, part sun. The textured black ground shows the hand-inked character of the print.
What makes this lot special is the artist’s letter on the reverse, which connects it directly to Mitchell himself. Small in scale but rich in provenance, it is a rare chance to own a personal piece by a major St Ives artist, and a fitting lot for a Christmas auction.

Bid for a rare, behind-the-scenes experience: seven nights in France with Democracy Volunteers, observing the first round of the presidential election on Sunday 18 April 2027.
You will join a non-partisan team visiting polling stations from opening to close, then staying for the count. You’ll note accessibility and procedure, and help produce practical recommendations to strengthen future elections. France votes in a way few British visitors have seen. There is a separate ballot paper for each candidate, a voting booth with an envelope, and a transparent ballot box. Each voter signs the register. The count happens in public, in the polling station itself, the moment the polls close. Local volunteers open the envelopes and read each ballot aloud while others keep the tally. By late evening the country knows its two finalists.
What’s included
Seven nights’ accommodation in [two single rooms / a twin room], based near the observation area
Observer briefing on French election law and procedure, including how voting and the count are run
Field mentoring from experienced Democracy Volunteers observers
A full observation schedule covering the days before the poll, polling day and the count
Local transport during observation, [and meals on observation days]
Your commitment
Availability for seven consecutive nights around the first round (mid-April 2027)
A long polling day, from before 8am opening until the count is finished
Strict political impartiality throughout the mission
Some French is helpful but not essential
Important notes
For two people. To be taken in April 2027, with dates confirmed with the DV team.
Travel to and from France is not included. Personal extras are at the winner’s cost.
Placement within France is allocated by Democracy Volunteers according to operational need.
France has no formal accreditation scheme for election observers. Voting and counting are open to the public, and Democracy Volunteers will notify the relevant authorities in advance. Access to each polling station remains at the discretion of its presiding officer.
Non-transferable; no cash alternative.

In 2019, President Trump floated an idea that stunned two continents: buying Greenland. Denmark’s Prime Minister called the notion absurd, and Trump promptly cancelled his state visit to Copenhagen. When he returned to office in 2025 the idea came back, firmer than before, and so did the answer. Greenland’s Prime Minister, Múte Egede, put it in five words: Greenland is not for sale.
Those words have since been printed on placards, posters and now this sweatshirt. It’s a wearable piece of recent Arctic history, from an island of 56,000 people that found itself at the centre of world politics.
Ideal for the political memorabilia collector, the Nordic enthusiast, or anyone who appreciates a small country holding its ground. It’s also warm, which given the subject seems only fitting.

How would it feel to look up into the sky at night and be able to say you own a piece of the Moon? Well, now you can – as you’re the proud proprietor of an acre of land on the Moon.
The Moon has been present in our night sky throughout history and without its effects on the tides and gravitational pull on the Earth - human life may not have been the same. Once out of reach, we can now reach the Moon and walk on its surface, as seen in the 1969 Moon landing - one of the greatest achievements in mankind’s history.
Now you can possess a piece of this history as well as over 4000 square metres of genuine solid land. You’ll receive a lunar site map to indicate where your land is located; lunar deeds; and a declaration of ownership. Who knows – one day you might even get to visit your land!

Local transport during observation and expenses are covered by Democracy Volunteers; any personal extras are at your cost.
Placement is in Northern Ireland, allocated by Democracy Volunteers based on operational need.
Observation is subject to accreditation by the Electoral Commission, which Democracy Volunteers will arrange with the winner.
The prize is for two people, to be taken in May 2027; dates to be confirmed with the DV team. Non-transferable; no cash alternative.
Value £1495. Only suitable for international observers not resident in the UK.

London has been doing espionage on screen for decades, and it hides its secrets in plain sight. On this guided walking tour you’ll follow in the footsteps of Britain’s most famous fictional agents, from Whitehall corridors and riverside rendezvous to the discreet doorways where plots were hatched, agents were turned and the occasional car went into the Thames.
Your guide will reveal the real places behind the scenes, how the films used them, and where fact and fiction in British intelligence history happen to overlap. You’ll never walk past a park bench in quite the same way again.
A perfect Christmas present for the film buff, the history enthusiast, or anyone who has ever fancied themselves as a spy. Dark glasses optional.

By the time election day comes round you will have built a comprehensive policy platform that is what the voters will judge you by. Will you go all out with the most spectacular policies, or will you go for a more mature and balanced approach?

The Official Monster Raving Loony Party (OMRLP) is a political party established in the United Kingdom in 1982 by the musician David Sutch, also known as Screaming Lord Sutch, 3rd Earl of Harrow, or simply Lord Sutch. It is notable for its deliberately bizarre policies and it effectively exists to satirise British politics, and by fielding novelty candidates to offer itself as an alternative for protest voters, especially in constituencies where the party holding a safe seat is unlikely to lose it.

In January 2025, as the incoming US president mused about Canada becoming the 51st state, Ontario Premier Doug Ford arrived at a meeting of Canada’s first ministers wearing a navy cap bearing four words: Canada is not for sale. The cap was a deliberate play on the MAGA hat. It was made by a small Ottawa firm, Jackpine, which had sold barely 100 before Ford put one on; within days sales were booming, with orders coming from as far as Australia.
The phrase soon became the rallying cry of a nation, and this sweatshirt carries it. It’s a wearable piece of recent political history, warm enough for a Canadian winter, and certainly enough for a British one.
Perfect for the Canadian in your life, the political memorabilia collector, or anyone who enjoys a well-made point.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
