The best method of travel is to take the ferry to Cherbourg. There are many accommodation options in Bayeux or St Lo. Both locations offer easy access to the US landing beaches of Omagh and Utah, with the British and Canadian landing beaches about an hour’s travel to the North East.

General Hollands likes to ‘set the scene’ for the tour before starting out - and he suggests this 'overview' takes place the night of your arrival, if possible. - depending on where you are staying .

A day in both the US and British sectors is recommended. There is much to see and the lucky winner should be prepared for two full days of visiting key sites and museums.

La Fermette is a carefully renovated, spacious old farmhouse in the Trois Vallées in the French Alps.
