A day of Bannerman consultation and a site visit to the winners garden to admire and give any advice that might be asked for.
The Bannermans would also be delighted to show the winners around their garden at Ashington. The house and garden ten years abandoned, which Julian and Isabel have transformed, are described in books as a 'wonderland'. This might give a flavour of the sort of things they can achieve, creating a richesse of history, floristry, mystery and ecology.
Isabel and Julian Bannerman are a garden design team of many years standing, holding the Royal Warrant of King's Charles III, Chelsea Gold Medal and a list of distinguished clients. House and Garden Designers of the year in 2023, their garden has just been featured on the cover of the magazine, which has only done this for a garden once before in its history. Their gardens have appeared in umpteen magazines and books, and they have written their own books about their work and working together. Isabel is now a regular columnist in Country Life. Julian and Isabel make romantic, flower filled gardens, always organically, in the regenerative, 'pastoral' style which blends locality, geology, local materials and plant species with glory and tranquillity. Living near Sherborne, just over the border in South Somerset, they are delighted to offer their services as a prize for this anniversary fund raiser for the Dorset Air Ambulance Service.

Hunter Rucksack is a ruggedly beautiful showcase of both the aesthetic and functional properties of leather. Crafted in the Bill Amberg workshops using hand-making techniques that have been practiced for centuries, the bag is made from thick, vegetable-tanned drummed shoulder leather, making it both extremely durable and full of character. The natural oils in the hide itself help make it robust and water-resistant – this is a bag that will only look better the more you use it. Closed with a leather drawstring and a brass press-fastener in the outer flap, the interior of the bag is lined with sturdy brown cotton drill. On the outside, two unlined open pockets under the flap provide a place to stash phones, stationery and other essential, easy-access items, and two buckle-adjusted straps can be used to hold a compact umbrella, pullover or picnic blanket. Fixings are in rust-resistant cast brass and all straps are fashioned from English bridle leather.

A Two Day Tour of the Normandy Battlefields

A Two Day Tour of the Normandy Battlefields
*ONLNE BIDDING FOR THIS ITEM CLOSES AT 16:00 ON 05 JUNE 2025*
A Two Day Tour of the Normandy Battlefields for up to eight people. Led by General Sir Barney White-Spunner
In June 1944 British, American and Canadian forces landed on the Normandy beaches to open the western front against Nazi Germany and to start the liberation of France. D Day, as the landings were known, was the largest amphibious operation ever mounted and represented the culmination of years of detailed planning by the allies. Nazi resistance was determined and the fighting became protracted and vicious, especially in the close country of the Norman Bocage. It wasn’t until August that the allies crossed the Seine and Paris could celebrate its freedom. The Normandy campaign has become part of our national psyche; its heroism, the extraordinary achievement it represented, its terrible casualties amongst both the combatants and the local population, and that it heralded the end of that most destructive of wars, means that it has a special place in our history.
We will follow the invasion route of the British forces from the beaches through to the final defeat of the Nazis in the Falaise Gap. Tour to be taken at a time to be mutually agreed between the hosts and the bidders during 2026. Bidders to be responsible for their own accommodation - in a hotel near Bayeux - and meals. Travel will be by minibus. Maximum 8 guests.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
