#Connected2018 Exhibition - Charity photography auction for Young Minds

Each year the #Connected exhibition ( www.connected-exhibition.co.uk ) brings together a wide and diverse group of photographers who collaborate to put on an exhibition of fine art photography at the Patchings Art Centre in Nottingham.

This year marked the 11th exhibition, and following the success of the launch weekend for #ConnectedTEN the previous year, we decided to celebrate with a launch weekend as a key respected date in the photography calendar. Guest speakers on the 7/8 April were:

As a group we always like to give something back to a local or wider charity as a creative collective and are thus holding a charity print auction of a selection of superb photographic works, books, portfolios and workshops / mentoring donated by contributing artists as well as members of the wider photography community. We believe as a collective it is a real opportunity to use this community strength as a force for good and positive change.

This year our chosen charity is Young Minds who do amazing work to support our kids and young adults with issues around stress, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues. Our kids face a world of pressure and challenge so this work Young Minds do is absolutely critical in supporting them.

"We’re leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges. We’re here to make sure they get the best possible mental health support and have the resilience to overcome life’s difficulties.
The crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real and it is urgent. More children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. But for those who take that brave step, help is much too hard to find.
Together, we are changing this. We’re fighting for young people’s mental health. Join our fight."

As you can see Young Minds mission is no small task and personally knowing of respected members of the photography community & families who've suffered the tragic effects of declining mental health in the younger generation any help we can offer as a creative collective can be huge.

Once the auction closes the winning bidder will be notified and they make payment direct to the Just Giving page set up for the charity https://www.justgiving.com/connected2018 there will be a small additional charge to collect by us to cover postage and secure packaging (£7.95 for prints but books and  framed images we will either deliver if local  or at cost or cost up depending on buyers location to include specialist book packaging or  secure bespoke framed artwork packaging  so it arrives in pristine condition ) before the items are despatched by courier to their new homes.

All prints will be made on A3 Fotospeed fine art papers using archival pigment inks. They will be packaged flat in Fotospeed A3 paper boxes for safe transit via courier. All P&P charges reflect postage to the UK, we are happy to post overseas and will discuss P&P charges with any overseas winning bidder.

We hugely appreciate all support you can give to help us help the charity, this is a superb way of owning a bespoke piece of art as well as doing some good for an amazing charity.

Also if you don't wish to bid on an item if you would consider any small donation at all to the charity via the JUstGiving page we'd be hugely grateful.

Last year we raised over £2,600 for the Van Geest cancer Research Centre in Nottingham and it would be great if we could smash this figure.

Many Thanks,

Rob & Karen

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
