The Richmond May Ball 2018

This year's Ball will, as always, be held on Richmond Green on Friday 11th May in a very elegant marquee.

The 2018 Ball will benefit three wonderful charities:

  • Home-Start Richmond supports disadvantaged families with young children
  • Momentum Children's Charity enhances the lives of young people with cancer
  • My Life Films creates unique films for people with dementia
Proceeds from the Ball in 2017 cleared £60,000 and, with your help, the proceeds from the Ball in 2018 will make a huge difference to all of these locally based good causes.

We have some fantastic lots on offer.  You can bid online on this page from now up until 11 a.m on Friday 11th May. If you are not attending the dinner, but would like to bid on one of the lots, you can do so by bidding now and placing a proxy (maximum) bid on your lot to give yourself the best chance of winning it.  Once the online auction has closed, bidding will re-open at the event that same evening and will be available in the venue only.  However, the system will continue to bid up for you to your maximum on the night.  You can also register to receive a text alert from the event if your maximum is outbid, which will allow you bid again by text if you wish.

If you are still the highest bidder at the end of the evening, we will contact you after the event to let you know.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
