BEAT 2020 on-line auctionRead more ...
For those of you not familiar with BEAT [Borough of Ealing Art Trail], we are a local not-for-profit organisation which holds an open studio art trail around the Borough of Ealing in West London each year over two weekends in September.
The event is entirely run by a team of volunteers and each year over 200 artists open their homes, studios or exhibition areas to the public for free. Since the first open studios in 2016, BEAT has become a popular annual local event, so it was with great regret that we had to cancel the 'live' 2020 event.
The decision to cancel BEAT 2020 open studios was a hard one, not only for the artists who would have taken part, but also for our many supporters. So we are delighted to be holding this on-line auction to enable you to still experience the variety of local work available and hopefully buy some of the work on offer. The work on show represents only a fraction of our artists and what the artists do, so do have a look at the Artists' page on our website to find out more - https://ealingbeat.org.uk/ealing-artists/
Over the period 5th to 13th September, we are auctioning work on behalf of the participating artists, as well as hopefully raising some money for BEAT and our chosen charity - Ealing Food Bank.
The Ealing Food Bank opened in Oct 2013 in order to help local people finding themselves in food crisis. With client centres around the borough, people are referred to receive food, further advice and ongoing support. During the 2020 pandemic, although all bar one of the centres had to close, the service was able to continue, and the number of those needing help grew by over 400% in the first month. In one week alone 999 people received food for three meals for three days and a record 11,496 three-day meals parcels were given out between 1 April – 21 July 2020. The organisation is reliant on the support it receives in food and financial donations, as well as on the volunteers who give their time and expertise, without which it would not be able to carry on helping those who are in desperate need. A really worthwhile local cause for which to raise money.
In normal years, BEAT relies on sponsorship from local organisations to cover much of its promotional and administrative expenses, but, due to the pandemic, many of these sources may not be available to support us next year. So we are hoping the auction will provide a contribution toward kick-starting our fundraising.
By doing this on-line silent auction as an alternative event during the pandemic, we are hoping to ensure that the event's popular reputation is maintained and that both artists and the public are able to benefit from the experience.
Please browse the site and hopefully find something to bid on. All your bids will be acknowledged and at the end of the auction you will be advised if you have been successful! Please note all prices include full UK mainland postage and packing, so what you bid is all that you have to pay.
Should you not wish to purchase anything, you may also make a donation only payment toward Ealing Food Bank and BEAT by clicking the purple 'Donate' button at the top of the page.
Remember, each “lot” sold will raise valuable funds not only for the artists and Ealing Food Bank but also for BEAT itself, which will enable us to start planning for BEAT 2021, so your support is very much appreciated.
So please register now and get bidding!
