Join us on the 16th May 2026 while Sam Boatwright attempts to break the world record for the furthest distance travelled on a concept bike in 24hrs. For just £5 an hour you can immerse yourself in an exciting experience, meeting new people, while cycling along side him. The money raised will be raised to help fund a group of students to go on a once in a life time opportunity to go volunteering in Nepal for two weeks at their local primary schools.
Here is all about what we are fundraising for:
We are a group of 16 students from Settle College who are excited to be working with Projects Abroad to volunteer at a school in Kathmandu, Nepal, next summer. As part of the project, we are fundraising and working together to fully embrace the spirit and ethos of this incredible opportunity.
The schools we will be helping do not have access to the resources and support that we are fortunate enough to benefit from. We will be lucky enough to improve these conditions and even teach English to some of the students, which unlocks a whole new skill set for those we will work with and for us. While in Nepal, we will also go on a three-day trek through the mountains, walking around 16 miles per day. There will also be time for us to take a step back and spend time in Kathmandu and some of the surrounding area. Exploring this wonderful city will be undoubtedly beneficial for all of us and an extremely eye-opening experience.
So far, we have organised a variety of fundraising activities, including hosting a Halloween disco, walking the distance from Base Camp to the summit of Everest dressed as Despicable Me characters, running games and serving Nepalese tea at school open evenings, selling food and homemade gifts at Christmas stalls, hosting a bingo night at limestone view, organising a local bingo night at lime stone view We’ll also be having stalls at local Christmas fairs, selling handmade cards and decorations we have made, organising a local bingo night at limestone view and holding many raffles across different events. Our upcoming event consist of holding film nights at our local primary schools and this biking event which we hope many of you will join us in.
