NLT Artic ChallengeRead more ...
The National Literacy Trust & Boots Opticians are working together to break the cycle of illiteracy for disadvantaged children.
Jane Seel will be representing Boots Opticians, and become our very own 'Artic Seel' as she undergoes the NLT Artic Challenge.
The Arctic Challenge is an inspiring wilderness endurance
set within the Swedish Arctic Circle. The Challenge incorporates a 35km dog sled race, 25km Nordic ski, ice fishing, orienteering, fire lighting and a light-hearted quiz. Set in the heart of the Arctic, this is a land of vast wilderness areas, of frozen lakes and rivers, frozen tundra, endless pine forest and ice fishing. Ice and snow are the norm for many months of the year and the dog sled and ski are still essential for everyday use during the long winters. Here, just north of Kiruna (6JD51'N 20°13'E) and 150km above the Arctic Circle, is where the Arctic Challenge is held.
Please note that all fundraising is just that, not to pay fees, buy kit or anything else. It all goes to the NLT.
Payment can be made on payday, and items can be collected / delivered once payment is made in full. So please bid generously to help such a such a great cause.
If you would like to make a donation, however small please see Janes Just Giving Page:
Thank you all, and good luck with your bids :)
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
