Book Title: Talking Classics
Genre: History
Format: Hardback
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK Only.
The Book:
What's exciting about a piece of bread 4,000 years old? Or some pots of paint abandoned in the eruption at Pompeii? Why should we be bothered with the distant past anyway? What's the point?
The life, art and literature of ancient Greece and Rome have something to offer everyone. They are not the property of wealthy white men only. They make us wonder how to make sense of people who lived long ago (from angry landlords to giggling senators) - and to think harder about our own world, to look at it differently.
In Talking Classics, Mary Beard points to the surprising connections between antiquity and the present. From revolutionaries to dictators, Bob Dylan to Beyoncé, she joins forces with the varied modern characters who have been transfixed by the ancient world. It's not compulsory, she argues, to be excited by antiquity, but it's a shame not to be.
After half a century teaching and studying classics, she fills the book with lively stories, curious facts and some good gossip. Talking Classics explains why the deep past does really affect us all.
The Author:
Dame Winifred Mary Beard is an English classicist specialising in Ancient Rome. She is a trustee of the British Museum and formerly held a personal professorship of classics at the University of Cambridge. She is a fellow of Newnham College, Cambridge, and Royal Academy of Arts Professor of Ancient Literature.

Book Title: Spy Princess
Genre: History/Biography
Format: Paper (Special 20th Edition)
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK Only
The Book:
This is the riveting story of Noor Inayat Khan, the descendant of an Indian Prince Tipu Sultan, the Tiger of Mysore, who became a British secret agent for SOE during World War II. Shrabani Basu tells the moving story of Noor's life from her birth in Moscow - where her father was a Sufi preacher - to her capture by the Germans. Noor was one of only three women SOE awarded the George Cross and, under torture, revealed nothing but her name - but not her real name, nor her code name, just the name she used to register at SOE: Nora Baker. Kept in solitary confinement, chained between hand and feet and unable to walk upright, Noor existed on bowls of soup made from potato peelings. Ten months after she was captured, she was taken to Dachau and, on 13 September 1944, she was shot. Her last word was 'Liberte'.
The Author:
Shrabani was born in Calcutta and grew up in Dhaka, Kathmandu and Delhi. She graduated in History from St Stephen’s College, Delhi and completed her Masters from Delhi University. In 1983 she began her career as a trainee journalist in the bustling offices of The Times of India in Mumbai. She moved to London in 1987, and has since then been the correspondent of the Calcutta-based ABP group writing for Ananda Bazar Patrika, Sunday magazine and The Telegraph. She has also written for BBC History Magazine, The Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph and other publications. Over her long career she has done exclusive interviews with many eminent people including Benazir Bhutto, Sheikh Hasina, Salman Rushdie, Nirad C Chaudhuri and Viv Richards.
She has always combined her journalism with her love of history and all her books have evolved from her observations about the shared histories of India and Britain. She is a Sunday Times best-selling author and her books include the critically acclaimed The Mystery of the Parsee Lawyer: Arthur Conan Doyle, George Edalji and the Foreigner in the English Village, (2021) For King and Another Country: Indian Soldiers on the Western Front 1914-18, (2015) Victoria & Abdul: The True Story of the Queen’s Closest Confidant (now a major Oscar-nominated motion picture starring Dame Judi Dench and Ali Fazal), (2010) Spy Princess: The Life of Noor Inayat Khan, (2006) and Curry: The Story of the Nation’s Favourite Dish (1999 and 2003).

Book Title: Secret Voices
Genre: History - Biography
Format: Hardback
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK Only
The Book:
A captivating collection of daily extracts from women’s diaries, looking back over four centuries to discover how women’s experience – of men and children, sex and shopping, work and the natural world – has changed down the years. And, of course, how it hasn’t.
Organised around the calendar year, in this engaging anthology you’ll find Lady Anne Clifford in the seventeenth century and Loran Hurnscot in the twentieth both stoically recording the demands of an unreasonable husband; Joan Wyndham and Anne Frank, at much the same time, but in wildly different settings, describing their first experiences with sex; and Anne Lister (TV’s Gentleman Jack) in eighteenth-century Yorkshire exploring her love affairs with women alongside Alice Walker in twentieth-century California.
With several selections for each day, from the 1st January to the 31st December, this book is a fascinating record of how women were thinking, feeling and reacting to historical events. From Virginia Woolf relishing her new haircut and Oprah Winfrey meditating on her career to Emilie Davis chronicling the death of Abraham Lincoln and teenage Ma Yan yearning for education in poverty-stricken China, Secret Voices contains a rich mix of well-known diarists and less familiar ones, and often the voices echoing down the centuries sound eerily familiar today.
The Author:
Sarah Gristwood is a biographer, journalist, and commentator on royal affairs. Her previous books include the best-selling Arbella: England’s Lost Queen, The Tudors in Love, Secret Voices, and biographies of Beatrix Potter, Winston Churchill, Vita Sackville-West and Virginia Woolf, and HM Queen Elizabeth II. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an honorary patron of Historic Royal Palaces and regularly contributes to TV documentary series and coverage of royal events. She lives in Kent.

Set of Three Great Hardback Books
Title 1: The Romanovs Under House Arrest
Title 2: Rasputin and his Russian Queen
Title 3: The Anne Boleyn Bible
Genre: History - Biographies
Format: Hardbacks
Signed: Dedications Available YES
Bids Accepted: UK Only
Title 1: The Romanovs Under House Arrest
Although many books cover the lives of Russia’s last
royal family in some considerable detail, their time
spent under house arrest in their own domestic home –
the Alexander Palace, outside St. Petersburg – is often
explained in a few scant pages, or a chapter at most.
But when set against the Revolution and the abdication
of the Tsar, these few months from February to August
1917 take on tremendous significance and deserve to
be studied in detail. Therein, as events spiralled out of
control, the Romanovs would find themselves virtual
prisoners in their own palace.
Worse still, with the aforementioned Tsar –
Nicholas II – away and ensconced in the vicissitudes
of World War One, it was left to his wife Alexandra
– favourite granddaughter of Queen Victoria – to
commandeer a household increasingly under siege.
She did this with aplomb, whilst simultaneously caring
for a haemophiliac son and four daughters laid low
by life-threatening measles. Alexandra’s boast that she
was the one who ‘wore the trousers’ was thus put to the
test in the hardiest of scenarios, as she found herself
forced both to bolster a flagging palace garrison against
the possibility of attack by bloodthirsty insurgents,
whilst attempting to hold together a domestic staff
increasingly fearful for their own lives in the face
of mob retribution. Meanwhile, the German High
Command set about releasing a veritable human
bacillus – Lenin himself – back toward his native
Russia, in a novel attempt to destabilise the Russian
war machine further still.
Not simply a blow-by-blow account of the daily lives
of a monarchy defiled, this book runs in tandem with
the Russian Revolution as it surges out from Petrograd
and toward the idyllic suburbs that the Romanovs
called their home … without Rasputin to rally them,
who can save the dynasty now?!
Title 2: Rasputin and his Russian Queen: The True Story of Grigory and Alexandra
RASPUTIN’S RELATIONSHIP with Russia’s last Tsarina, Alexandra, notorious from the famous Boney M song, has never been adequately addressed; biographies are always for one or the other, or simply Alexandra and her husband Nicholas. In this new work, Mickey Mayhew reimagines Alexandra for the #MeToo generation; ‘neurotic’; ‘hysterical’; ‘credulous’ and ‘fanatical’ are shunted aside in favour of a sympathetic reimagining of a reserved and pious woman tossed into the heart of Russian aristocracy, with the sole purpose of providing their patriarchal monarchy with an heir. When her longed-for son then developed haemophilia, she turned to the one man capable of curing the child’s agonising pain – Grigory Rasputin. Some say that between them, Grigory and Alexandra brought down 300 years of Romanov rule and ushered in the Russian Revolution, but theirs was simply the story of a mother fighting for the health of her son against a backdrop of bigotry, sexism and increasing secularism. She liked to pray and he liked to party, but when they found themselves steering Russia through the First World War, her gender and his class gave society no option but to destroy them. Bubbling with his trademark bon mots, Mickey Mayhew’s latest book breathes fresh life into two of history’s most fascinating – and polarising – figures. This is the real story of Rasputin and his Russian Queen.
Title 3: The Anne Boleyn Bible
Anne Boleyn sells, but she sells in segments; a biography here, a study over there on her guilt and something else yonder concerned with where she lived or what she liked to wear. This book, covering not just her life but her life onscreen, in theatre, on TV and also the impact of the first black actress to play her, is the definitive, all-encompassing story of Anne Boleyn from 1501 (or thereabouts) to 2023. Having examined the ardent fandom of Anne Boleyn for his doctorate, Dr Mickey Mayhew is in a unique position to offer something new to say on this much-discussed 'tragic' Tudor queen and is not afraid to tackle some of the less palatable aspects of her life. Also, this book is the first to examine with authenticity the reality of Anne's relationship with the most important man in her life, the man whose name she repeated in comfort whilst facing the Swordsman of Calais on the scaffold, having spent her life promulgating his doctrine; Jesus Christ himself. As for the aforementioned executioner, Dr Mayhew's research in Calais and Saint-Omer can now lift a lid on a few of the particulars of this elusive and yet essential figure of Anne Boleyn mythos; and yes, now he even has a name as well. The Anne Boleyn Bible also offers a straightforward retelling of Anne's actual historical life, albeit one that outlines an entirely fresh and empowering perspective on her rise to prominence; this is followed by a series of considered arguments on the 'for' and 'against' in regard to her guilt & execution; then her entry into popular culture, firstly in plays and masques, before she went on to headline movies, TV series, cosplay, and now, with the first black woman to portray her, model and actress Jodie Turner-Smith. This book is simply what it says on the cover - The Anne Boleyn Bible - leaving no depiction, no religious aspect, no appearance in popular culture, from The Simpsons to the West End musical 'Six', overlooked; likewise, Dr Mayhew also turns his trademark brand of rather wry commentary toward the vast plethora of Anne Boleyn merchandising, tourist spots, rubber ducks, beanies and the wrangling question of who was the ultimate onscreen Anne; Genevieve Bujold or Natalie Dormer?!
Author Bio:
Mickey Mayhew is an author and historian from London, working mainly on Mary Queen of Scots, Anne Boleyn, and the Romanovs; he has a PhD focusing on the online ‘tragic queen cult’ surrounding Mary and Anne. He wrote ‘The Little Book of Mary Queen of Scots’ (published by The History Press) in 2014 and then ‘I love the Tudors’ (published by Pitkin Publishing) in 2016. ‘House of Tudor – A Grisly History’ and ‘Imprisoning Mary Queen of Scots – The Men Who Kept the Stuart Queen’ were released by Pen & Sword Books in 2022. ‘Rasputin and his Russian Queen – The True Story of Grigory and Alexandra’, will be released in March 2023, with ‘The Anne Boleyn Bible’ due in August.
Previously to this, he was co-author on three books relating to Jack the Ripper, whilst fictional work includes the urban fantasy trilogy ‘The Barrow Boys of Barking’, beginning with ‘Jack and the Lad’ and concluding, for now, with ‘Jamie’s Big Bang’. His tongue-in-cheek memoir ‘Mickeypedia’ is also now available, with all proceeds going to the Anna Kennedy Online autism charity.

The Book One: Rebel Women Between The Wars
What did it mean to be a ‘rebel woman’ in the interwar years? Taking the form of a multiple biography, this book traces the struggles, passions and achievements of a set of ‘fearlessly determined’ women who stopped at nothing to make their mark in the traditionally masculine environments of mountaineering, politics, engineering and journalism. From the motorist Claudia Parsons to the ‘star’ reporter Margaret Lane, the mountaineer Dorothy Pilley and the journalist Shiela Grant Duff, the women charted in this book challenged the status quo in all walks of life, alongside writing vivid, eye-witness accounts of their adventures. Recovering their voices across a range of texts including novels, poems, journalism and diaries, Rebel women between the wars reveals their inch by inch gains won through courageous and sometimes controversial and dangerous actions.
Book Two: Wildly Different
The globe-trotting tales of five extraordinary women who fought for the right to enjoy the wild places of the earth.
A Financial Times best summer book of 2025
‘Spellbinding.’ – Daily Express
‘Well worth reading.’ – Bookmunch
For millennia the ‘wild’ was a place heroic men went on epic quests. Women were forbidden from joining them. So how did they claim their place in the remote and lovely parts of our planet?
In Wildly different, historian Sarah Lonsdale traces the lives of five women who fought for the right to work in, enjoy and help to save the earth’s wild places. We’ll meet Mina Hubbard, who outraged the exploration community when she stepped into a canoe in northern Labrador. Evelyn Cheesman, who became the first female keeper of insects at London Zoo. Dorothy Pilley, who shocked polite society by donning men’s climbing breeches. Ethel Haythornthwaite, who helped make the Peak District Britain’s first National Park. And Wangari Maathai, who started a movement to plant millions of trees across sub-Saharan Africa.
Drawing on interviews with Sir David Attenborough, Wangari Maathai’s daughter and others, Lonsdale recounts the women’s adventures across five continents. Evocative and inspiring, this book shows how women can be ‘wildly different’.
The Author:
Sarah Lonsdale is an award-winning journalist, writer and historian and lives near Canterbury in Kent, UK. She is a senior lecturer in Journalism and history at City St George’s University, London. She was a reporter on the Observer newspaper, and freelanced for most major newspapers and magazines before studying for her PhD on journalists in fiction in 2009 - 2013. She is the author of three critically acclaimed books:

Book Title: The White Lady
Genre: History
Format: Paperback
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK Only
The Book:
'The White Lady’ is the true story of the most important SIS / MI6 intelligence networks behind enemy lines in Belgium in World War One and World War Two.
It took its name from a legend that if the ghost of a white lady appears, she would herald the demise and downfall of the Hohenzollern royal dynasty, the ruling family of Brandenburg-Prussia (and later imperial Germany). The symbolism is clear – by its work The White Lady network of spies would facilitate the end of German occupation in Belgium and see the downfall of the royal dynasty.
There are points of high drama and tension in the lives of the leaders and agents, as well as stories of betrayal in which agents lost their lives in the fight for freedom.
Working on declassified files in archives in Belgium and London, Helen’s research uncovers the heroism of the women and men of these networks and the ingenious ways in which they gathered intelligence for London and how that impacted on the outcome of two world wars.
The Author:
Helen has authored and edited over 25 books covering the social history of the Second World War, including British Intelligence and the secret war, espionage and spies, and MI9 escape and evasion. She is an expert on women in intelligence.
She is the foremost authority on the 'secret listeners' who worked at special eavesdropping sites operated by British Intelligence during WWII. Her groundbreaking research and extensive media coverage have shed light on one of the greatest intelligence deceptions of the war: the bugging of Hitler’s generals at Trent Park in North London, and thousands of prisoners of war at Latimer House and Wilton Park in Buckinghamshire.
Helen is the official biographer of MI6 spymaster, Colonel Thomas Joseph Kendrick. She has also extensively written about the 10,000 Germans who fought for Britain during WWII.
Thanks to her expertise, Helen has appeared in a number of documentaries, including David Jason’s Secret Service (Channel 5), Spying on Hitler's Army (Channel 4), and Secrets of the Spies (Britbox). She has provided advisory services for TV and drama, something that she particularly enjoys. Helen has covered the major D-Day commemorations in live BBC broadcasts from Normandy, and she regularly appears in media interviews and podcasts.
Helen is an ambassador for the National Centre for Military Intelligence (NCMI) and serves as a trustee of both the Friends of the Intelligence Corps Museum and the Medmenham Collection. She works in London.
Helen is a recent recipient of the Lifetime Contribution Award for Jewish Military History and Education, awarded by The Jewish Military Association (AJEX).

Title: Pandemic 1918
Genre: History
Format: U.S. Hardback Edition
Signed: Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK only.
The Book;
In the dying months of World War I, Spanish flu suddenly overwhelmed the world, killing between 50 and 100 million people.
German soldiers termed it Blitzkatarrh, British soldiers called it Flanders Grippe, but globally the pandemic gained the notorious title of 'Spanish Flu'.
Nowhere escaped this common enemy: in Britain, 250,000 people died, in the United States it was 750,000, five times its total military fatalities in the war, while European deaths reached over two million. The numbers are staggering. And yet at the time, news of the danger was suppressed for fear of impacting war-time morale. Even today these figures are shocking to many - the war still hiding this terrifying menace in its shadow.
And behind the numbers are human lives, stories of those who suffered and fought it - in the hospitals and laboratories. Catharine Arnold traces the course of the disease, its origins and progress, across the globe via these remarkable people. Some are well known to us, like British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, US President Woodrow Wilson, and writers Robert Graves and Vera Brittain, but many more are unknown. They are the doughboys from the US, gold miners in South Africa, schoolgirls in Great Britain and many others.
Published 100 years after the most devastating pandemic in world history, Pandemic 1918 uses previously unpublished records, memoirs, diaries and government publications to uncover the human story of 1918.
The Author:
Catharine Arnold is a popular historian, author of the London quartert (Necropolis London and its Dead, Bedlam, City of Sin and Underworld London City of Crime). She studied English literature at the University of Cambridge and holds a post graduate diploma in psychology. Catharine was UK Council for Psychotherapy Writer in Residence 2020.

Book Title: The Real Leonardo da Vinci
Genre: Biography - History
Format: Hardback
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK Only
The Book:
Leonardo Da Vinci was left-handed. That’s probably why he wrote backwards from right to left to avoid smudging ink on his hand as he made notes on his latest works and visionary discoveries. Words could only be read with the help of a mirror making it taxing for anyone but himself to quickly decode his handwriting. There are many theories exploring the reason why he kept using “mirror writing” in all his manuscripts. Some historians say that he was trying to make it more challenging for people to steal his ideas while others claim that it was a clever attempt to hide scientific findings from the intolerant Roman Catholic Church of the Renaissance. Whatever the logic behind this, the constant association with mirror writing and studies on the human body anatomy, made him one of the most enigmatic figures of his and then of our century. This biography investigates Leonardo and his different roles from anatomist to inventor, architect, painter, rumoured to be templar and scientific pioneer. Despite leaving several of his works incomplete, Leonardo managed to influence generations of artists and still today remains a highly regarded figure in both the artistic and scientific sector.
The Author:

Book Title: The Weimar Years
Genre: History
Format: Paperback
Signed: Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK only
The Book : The Weimar Years
A DAILY MAIL BOOK OF THE WEEK
A SPECTATOR BOOK OF THE YEAR
A DAILY TELEGRAPH BEST HISTORY BOOK OF 2023
ASPECTS OF HISTORY BOOKS OF THE YEAR
A GUARDIAN BOOK OF THE YEAR 2023
A DAILY MAIL BEST CHRISTMAS BOOK OF 2023
The prequel to Frank McDonough's bestselling Hitler Years series, covering the dramatic era of German history that culminated in the rise to power of Adolf Hitler in 1933.
Established in the wake of German defeat in the First World War, the Weimar Republic held out the hope that democracy, stability and prosperity would take root in Germany. From the start, however, it was beset by political and economic upheaval and spasms of violence between left and right. Year by year, from 1918 to 1933, Frank McDonough describes the major events in both domestic and foreign policy and the personalities who shaped them, together with developments in Weimar's flourishing cultural sphere. McDonough places particular focus on the parliamentary history of Weimar, arguing that it was the failure of parliamentary democracy to bring stability that allowed the power of the elected Reichstag to diminish, leading to Hitler's accession to power.
The Weimar Years is the tragic story of a rise and fall, as well as a warning of how, under poor leadership, economic pressure and unrelenting political instability, a democracy can drift towards a form of authoritarian rule that eventually destroys it.
The Author: Frank McDonough
Professor Frank McDonough is an internationally renowned expert on the Third Reich. He was born in Liverpool, studied history at Balliol College, Oxford and gained a PhD from Lancaster University.
He has written many critically acclaimed books on the Third Reich, including: The Gestapo: The Myth and Reality of Hitler’s Secret Police (2015). Hitler and the Rise of the Nazi Party (2012), Sophie Scholl: The Woman Who Defied Hitler (2009), The Holocaust (2008), Opposition and Resistance in Nazi Germany (2001), Hitler, Chamberlain and Appeasement (2002), and Hitler and Nazi Germany (1999). He has also published many other books, most notably, The Origins of the Second World War: An International Perspective (2011), The Conservative Party and Anglo-German Relations (2007), Chamberlain, Appeasement and the British Road to War (1998) and The Origins of the First and Second World Wars (1997).

Book Title: Weimar - Life on the Edge of Catastrophe
Genre: Non-fiction, History
Format: Hardback - First Edition
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: UK Only
The Book:
'Superb... Hoyer finds the town of Weimar a perfect microcosm for a country teetering into darkness... intelligent, original and well-researched' Daily Telegraph
From bestselling historian Katja Hoyer comes a gripping story of life during the rise and reign of Hitler through the eyes of the people of Weimar
*One of the most anticipated books of 2026 according to the Sunday Times, Financial Times and The Telegraph*
Weimar looms large in German history: a crucible of democracy and dictatorship. This ancient town nestled in the heart of the country was home to some of Europe's greatest thinkers, Goethe and Schiller, Liszt and Nietzsche among them. It gave its name to the ambitious Weimar Republic crafted in the aftermath of the First World War. But it was also where fascism took hold. Where Bauhaus architects first experimented with new ways of living, Buchenwald was dug out of a beech forest.
Weimar shows us a town and its people on the edge of catastrophe. Drawing on a wealth of new archival research, acclaimed historian Katja Hoyer takes us from 1919 to 1939 as she tells the stories of the men and women who lived through the new republic and Hitler's regime. We encounter a vividly drawn cast of characters, from bookbinder Carl Weirich and hotel owners Rosa and Arthur Schmidt, to Friedrich Nietzsche's sister Elisabeth. Here are fascists and socialists, artists and workers, politicians and citizens, who, as the events of history swept them up, became witnesses, perpetrators, victims and bystanders.
An unforgettable picture of lives and choices in extraordinary circumstances, Weimar takes us deep into the heart of the storm – to the town that dreamt of a better world, and woke up to tyranny.
The Author:
Katja Hoyer is a German-British historian and journalist. She is a Visiting Research Fellow at King's College London and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Book Title: The Missing Thread: A New History of the Ancient World Through the Women Who Shaped It
Genre: History; Non-Fiction
Format: Hardback (First Edition)
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: Global
The Book :
For centuries, men have been writing histories of antiquity filled with warlords, emperors and kings. But when it comes to incorporating women aside from Cleopatra and Boudica, writers have been more comfortable describing mythical heroines than real ones. While Penelope and Helen of Troy live on in the imagination, their real-life counterparts have been relegated to the margins. In The Missing Thread, Daisy Dunn inverts this tradition and puts the women of history at the centre of the narrative.
These pages present Enheduanna, the earliest named author, the poet Sappho and Telesilla, who defended her city from attack. Here is Artemisia, sole female commander in the Graeco-Persian Wars, and Cynisca, the first female victor at the Olympic Games. Cleopatra may be the more famous, but Fulvia, Mark Antony's wife, fought a war on his behalf. Many other women remain nameless but integral. Through new examination of the sources combined with vivid storytelling Daisy Dunn shows us the ancient world through fresh eyes, and introduces us to an incredible cast of ancient women, weavers of an entire world.
The Author:
Daisy Dunn is an award-winning classicist and author of seven books. She read Classics at Oxford and received her PhD from UCL.

Book Title: Behind Enemy Lines
Genre: Military Non-Fiction
Format: Hardback
Signed - Dedication is Available
Bids Accepted: Global
The Book:
This is the gripping true story of one special forces patrol and how their heroic missions changes the course of WWII. The action is relentless, ranging from the sub-blasted wastes of the 1940s Sahara to the wild and rain-lashed killing fields of the then Yugoslavia in 1945. Serving with the Long Range Desert Group, the SAS and the SOE - Churchill's Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare - these men take the fight to the enemy by jeep, boat and warplane in the most daring of ways.
At one point their commander, Lewis 'Archie' Gibson, saves the life of SAS founder David Stirling when riding in a battle wagon named 'Wha Daur', a phrase culled from the Scottish ballad 'Wha Daur Meddle With Me?'
Based upon the unpublished manuscripts written by Gibson, this book reveals incredible wartime exploits, which were only ever intended for his family. When Gibson's son reached out to the author, Damien Lewis recognised a unique and powerful piece of untold WWII history. Behind Enemy Lines is the result - a fabulous tale of true grit, duty and undying brotherhood, laced with humility and humour, told by one of the bestselling military historians of our time.
The Author:
Damien Lewis is a former war reporter and one of the nation's "twenty favourite authors" as declared by World Book Day. He is an acclaimed and award-winning writer, topping bestseller lists worldwide. Many of his books are being made into movies or TV series, and he scripts his own work for films. His widely-acclaimed WWII elite forces series includes The Nazi Hunters, SAS Ghost Patrol, SAS Italian Job/Churchill's Hellraisers and Churchill’s Secret Warriors, which is being developed as a movie series by Paramount Pictures. His military books include the number one bestseller Zero Six Bravo, and his man-and-dog at war stories, including the phenomenally successful War Dog/The Dog Who Could Fly and Judy – A Dog In A Million, both of which are being developed as films. His co-authored war-victim memoirs Slave and Tears of the Desert, have won a string of awards and were top international bestsellers. He also writes thrillers, and his first, Cobra Gold, is being made into a movie by LA-based Safadi Entertainment. He is also an acclaimed public speaker, being hailed by one corporate executive as being “a brilliant natural storyteller.”

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
