Earthworks Sealed-Bid Auction - CLOSES 10 May 2026
The
Earthworks Ceramic Studio membership is a dynamic, vibrant community of makers and artists who come together to learn, share and develop their
ceramic practice in a collaborative, supportive environment.
The Earthworks Summer Market 2026 (15-17 May, Arch 45, SW9 8BP) will showcase some of the current, individual and unique
results; and this auction is a taster of that work, with each member presenting
a fine example of their style and craftsmanship.
The auction is also your ONLY
opportunity to own a piece of their work at whatever YOU value it, be that £5
or £500.
When
thinking about that value, keep in mind that this is a sealed bid auction; bids
will not be visible so you will not know, until the auction closes, whether you
have been outbid or whether you have won the piece you have your heart set on.
So, give it your best shot!
You can bid on multiple items and you can also bid again, at a later date, on any item if you think you would have a better chance of securing it by doing so – you will only be charged once on each item and ONLY
if yours is the highest bid on that item.
Have a go - place a bid now and
see if you can make that little work of art yours.
Good luck!
Please note: if you win a LOT, you will be notified by email; you can collect from
the market 15-17 May OR from the studio at another time, by arrangement OR for
an additional p&p charge (and no liability), we can post within UK

Green matt glazed, matcha bowl with wooden stand W125 x H80mm
About the artist: Noriko Tanaka I'm deeply interested in tableware made from earthenware that reflects the spirit of “yōnobi” (用の美) — the quiet beauty found in everyday use. I love pieces that aren’t just pretty to look at, but become more meaningful each time they’re held, used, and lived with. Right now, my work centers on matcha tea ware. I design pieces that can move effortlessly from a formal matcha ceremony to a relaxed morning matcha latte. In every piece, I’m searching for balance — warmth in the curves, softness in the touch, yet a clear and honest simplicity. Nothing extra. Nothing forced. Just form, function, and feeling working together as one.

SIGNED IN AS :
When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another
member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new
maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
