We are delighted to offer this powerful and evocative charcoal and chalk monoprint by emerging artist Hera Podesta, a proud graduate of Cardiff Steiner School's pioneering Upper School Class of 2020.
A testament to the growing interest in her work, Hera recently had a similar piece included in the Newcastle University Art Auction, where her drawing sold for a higher price than a donated signed, limited-edition exhibition catalogue from renowned sculptor Sir Antony Gormley!
This piece is drawn from Hera's recent series of monoprints that explore moments of profound transformation and fluidity within the Mabinogi, the foundational tales of Welsh mythology.
Hera focuses here on the concept of metamorphosis - how characters in the Mabinogi constantly slip between bodies: human, animal, plant and water. Through this lens, the body is treated not as a fixed entity, but as a phase of life to be passed through, something in a constant state of becoming. The intertwined figures capture this tension, depicting bodies that are simultaneously endless and deathless, yet ephemeral and fragile.
Artistic Practice
Hera is currently a final-year Fine Art student at Newcastle University, where her practice primarily involves drawing and moving image. She consciously links the materiality of her drawing with her subject matter. The expressive, awkward, wobbly lines, the use of translucent white chalk, and the unfixed charcoal on paper deliberately echo the vulnerability and wavering state of the bodies and objects she depicts.
This is a unique opportunity to acquire a conceptually rich piece by a promising young artist whose work is rooted in her Welsh heritage and her journey through Steiner education.

'Mother Earth' is a beautiful Waldorf Puppet Doll, lovingly handcrafted in Wales using traditional Waldorf techniques.
She stands approximately 17cm tall and is dressed in a fiery autumn smock. Wrapped warmly around her shoulders is a soft grey wool shawl, and her hair is a gentle cloud of grey, a reminder of her calm wisdom.
In her hands she carries a small broom, ready to lovingly sweep up fallen leaves and tuck the garden into a peaceful rest for the winter months ahead. A guardian of nature’s rhythm, she embodies nourishment, care and the gentle wisdom of change, working with the transformation of the earth as the seasons turn.

Handmade by our Parent Craft Group, using wool, felt and cotton. Wool is naturally kind on skin, especially children’s and it also cleans itself so no need to wash this beautiful doll. It can be gently wiped.

These stars look wonderful in groups or by themselves. The stars are made from folding deluxe translucent kite paper up to 144 times depending on the pattern.
