'A wonderful collection of short stories... Hugely enjoyable, mixing the romantic with the mystical, the historical with the present day - all centred on the mysterious Emporium manned by the wonderful character of Miss Moonshine in the evocative Yorkshire town of Haven Bridge' Annika, Amazon Vine voice
Author 1: Jacqui Cooper:
Jacqui Cooper is Australia’s most successful aerial skier. In a career spanning two decades, she became the first woman in Olympic history, summer or winter, to represent Australia at five Olympic Games. Jacqui won five world titles, 39 World Cup medals, 24 World Cup wins and three major World Championship medals, and is now a motivational speaker and the mother of three small children. She has also just launched a gluten-free range of frozen dough products, Food for Me
Author 2: Sophie Claire:
Sophie Claire writes emotional stories set in England and in sunny Provence, where she spent her summers as a child.
She has a French mother and a Scottish father, but was born in Africa and grew up in Manchester, England, where she still lives with her husband and two sons.
Previously, she worked in marketing and proofreading academic papers, but writing is what she always considered her ‘real job’ and now she’s delighted to spend her days dreaming up heartwarming contemporary romance stories set in beautiful places.
Author 3: Marie Raval:
Originally from Lyon in France, Marie studied History and Law at university there before moving to Lancashire in England where she worked in a variety of jobs, from PA in a busy university department to teacher of French in schools and colleges. Writing, however, was always her passion, and she spends her free time making up stories. She writes contemporary and historical romance.
Author 4: Angela Wren:
I’m an actor and director at a small theatre a few miles from where I live in the county of Yorkshire in the UK. I did work as a project and business change manager – very pressured and very demanding – but I managed to escape and now I write books.
I particularly enjoy the challenge of plotting and planning different genres of work. My short stories vary between contemporary romance, memoir, mystery and historical. I also write comic flash-fiction and have drafted two one-act plays that have been recorded for local radio.
My full-length stories are set in France where I like to spend as much time as possible each year. I’m currently researching and working on the follow-up to Merle.
Author 5: Kate Field:
Kate Field lives in Lancashire, England, with her husband, daughter and cat. Her debut novel, The Magic of Ramblings, won the Romantic Novelists' Association Joan Hessayon Award for new writers.
Author 6: Mary Jane Baker:
Mary Jayne Baker grew up in rural West Yorkshire, right in the heart of Brontë country... and she's still there. After graduating from Durham University with a degree in English Literature, she dallied with living in cities including London, Nottingham and Cambridge, but eventually came back with her own romantic hero in tow to her beloved Dales, where she first started telling stories about heroines with flaws and the men who love them.
Mary Jayne also writes uplifting, feelgood romances under the pen name Lisa Swift.
Author 7: Helen Pollard
As a child, Helen had a vivid imagination fuelled by her love of reading, so she started to create her own stories in a notebook.
Now a bestselling author of contemporary romance, she believes that good characterisation is the key to a successful book and loves infusing her writing with humour and heart.
Helen is a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association and The Society of Authors.
Author 8: Melinda Hammond
I write under the names of Melinda Hammond and Sarah Mallory.
I have been telling stories for as long as I can remember - many of them born of frustration when I was stuck in a classroom longing to be rescued! I love anything romantic, whether it is a grand opera or a beautiful painting. It doesn't necessarily have to be happy, as long as it is inspiring.
For many years I lived in an old farmhouse on the edge of the Pennines in West Yorkshire, literally a stone's throw from open moorland. Now I live by the sea in the wild Highlands of Scotland. I love walking to think up my latest plot, or just to clear my head ready for another session of writing.
Author 9: Helena Fairfax:
Helena Fairfax is a British author who was born in Uganda and came to England as a child. She's grown used to the cold now, and these days she lives in an old Victorian mill town in the north of England, right next door to the windswept Yorkshire moors and the home of the Bronte sisters. She walks this romantic landscape every day with her rescue dog, finding it the perfect place to dream up her heroes and her happy endings.
