Alex, keep up the good fight baby! God chooses certain people to carry certain burdens because He knows what you are made of... the good stuff. Other people need to see your struggles in order to appreciate what they have instead of grumbling about what they don’t have. My own father lost his right foot at age 21 from bone cancer. He was a very talented athlete and was about to be drafted by the Philadelphia Fillies. He prayed For God to send a woman to love him as he was. Within 2 days my mother,a student nurse, saw my Dad and that was it!!! However his troubles were not over. Dad lost part of his left lung from the original cancer ( at 26) then at 29, lost his entire right arm from another bone cancer. He gave all his trust to the Lord above and led a wonderful life. He had the love of a woman so deep, it was envied by all. He was such a fine person and I thank my God daily that my father chose to live rather than give up...he did that for me and my brother. You are setting a great example for all, especially your son.,, to always try hard and be content with what you have. I will continue to pray for your strength and courage. I hope you know the love of God because if you do, you will be made perfect when you get to heaven. We are all flawed here on earth and only by God’s grace and mercy will we be saved. I am incredibly inspired by your journey and I am touched by your mission to be a great father to your son Sam (I cried quite a bit during that part of the documentary because it reminded me of my own father who suffered from frequent debilitating migraines/back pain while I was younger). I couldn’t even make it through the documentary on YouTube before feeling the urge to donate. I will come back to donate more in the future as I am able to (currently unemployed). Keep being awesome and giving hope to those who have dealt with much less. Whenever I feel as though I am ‘suffering’ through a workout or ‘exhausted’ from pursing my music/career goals I will think back to your story as a source of inspiration and to remind me of the undying fire of the human spirit. Dear Alex and family, I just watched the documentary on your situation and struggle. My deepest respect for not giving up! I just want you to know that you don't have to fight this challenge alone. Jesus can help you and make the burden light if you entrust him with your life. He said in the Gospel of Matthew 11:28-30: 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” There is a girl in our church. She got ran over by a tram and was in a coma and the doctors had already declared her dead. Thanks to many prayers, faith and support from her family and the church she is now almost back to full physical functionality. I personally was severly addicted to pornography for almost 20 years and the Lord restored me in a way that no therapy could have. He can turn a desaster into a miracle. Much love to you. What really touched me in the documentary was when you were sitting on the floor in the bedroom putting your old clothes and shoes in a bag and reflecting on the person you used to be, an alcoholic, a man more concerned with how he looks, lost, and on the wrong path.
