The Devant Leap-Year Charity Auction

As 2016 is giving us an extra day – a leap year ‘freebie’ – the team at Devant has decided to use this opportunity to make a difference. How? We’re auctioning off our team for charity, for the 29th February ‘leap day’!

You can ‘buy’ a member of our consulting team for eight whole hours on the 29th February, using their commercial contracting expertise to make a positive difference to your business in 2016 while contributing to a very worthwhile cause.

Your money will go to Launchpad, a charity providing housing and support services to homeless people in the Reading area. Homelessness is a growing issue all over the country, and when you hear the stories of those on the streets, it’s scary to see how easily you or I could find ourselves in their position. So we hope you’ll join us in doing our bit to help!

To take advantage of this fantastic opportunity and contribute to a good cause, bid for Devant’s ‘leap day’ services in our charity auction.

 The Rules

They’re really simple. Each Auction Package has a ‘reserve’ price equal to the normal price of one hour of the relevant consultant’s time. So you could get an entire 8 hour day for the price of just a single hour – bargain!

Each Auction Package will go to its highest bidder, as at midnight on Friday 19th February when the auction closes.

If you’re the successful bidder, you will be notified on Monday 22nd February. We'll issue a VAT invoice for the amount of your successful bid + 20% VAT (unfortunately, HMRC make us add VAT to your bid, but don't worry, you can claim it back!), and take your payment. Then we’ll call you to find out exactly what you’d like in your Leap Year Charity Auction Package.

You can either choose from the suggestions in the Auction Package, or if you have a specific project you’d like our help with that’s not listed in your package, just ask – if we can accommodate you, we will!

If you're not already a Devant client, we'll also send you our Ts&Cs via Echosign, to make sure you're properly protected - contact Rosie at Devant if you'd like to take a look at these before bidding.

Your Auction Package will be delivered on Monday 29th February, either at our offices in Riseley, Berkshire or at another location of your choice.

All of the workshops (click here for more details) on offer are for up to 12 delegates, and include all workshop materials. You’ll need to provide the venue, lunch and refreshments, flip chart and projector, and we’ll do the rest!

We’ll also throw in up to two hours of travel time on top of your 8 hour day for free, but you’ll need to pay any travel expenses.

Apart from these travel expenses (which we’ll use to pay for our travel),  the VAT and the 5% fee taken by the auction site (the lowest commission site we could find!), all the money you pay will go straight to Launchpad, to help homeless people in Berkshire.

When bidding on an auction item, if you enter more than the minimum increment for an item then your bid will be used for proxy bidding. This is how it works:
1. You enter the absolute maximum that you are willing to bid for an item.
2. jumblebee places a bid on your behalf, using the minimum amount required to make you the highest bidder, i.e. current bid price plus bid increment OR the reserve price, if there is one and it can be covered by your proxy bid.
3. jumblebee continues to bid on your behalf, whenever you are outbid by another member's bid, until your maximum bid is exceeded or the auction is won.
4. jumblebee will notify you by email if your maximum bid is outbid by another member and provided the auction is still running, you will then have a chance to enter a new maximum bid if you wish.
For example:
The current bid on an auction item is £100. The minimum increment is £10. You enter a bid of £150 (your maximum bid).
Using your bid, but increasing only by the minimum increment, jumblebee sets the current bid to £110.
Another person bids £130 but they are immediately outbid by jumblebee bidding on your behalf and the current bid goes up to £140.
The auction finishes and you have won the auction item at a price of £140.
