What is Music for Memories™?
Using the power of music, Music for Memories™ provides therapy to people with dementia to stimulate the memory and create that little spark inside that can lead to a smile. Smiles are magic things - and we aim to create lots of smiles.
Music for Memories™ events also provides much needed respite for family members, friends and carers. The burden on dementia patients, their carers, family and friends is immense and at times overwhelming. Although dementia has no current cure, this doesn’t mean we should not do all we can in the meantime. Importantly, with dementia causing less damage to long-term memory, we can deliver positive results to many people, even if the effects are only temporary. Our Music for Memories™ plan is not rocket science, nor is it unique. But our plans are ambitious and we need your help.
As we continue to raise funds through these special concerts, we are also looking to engage with choirs and choir directors, instrumentalists, composer and arrangers to form a UK-wide network of music makers. This will allow us to extend our musical events and respite sessions both outside and inside the care system to people with dementia, their family, friends and carers. Later, we will be undertaking research and developing existing technology to help deliver tailored Music for Memories™ benefits.
The fundraising concerts are currently being performed by Manchester-based chamber choir Cantibus and conducted Cantibus director and founder of Music for Memories™, David Evans. Previous audience members have loved the music and also praised the Music for Memories™ concept. We promise you an enjoyable evening and look forward to welcoming you to many such Music for Memories™ events.

They are a way of us raising money doing what we love doing. And it's through singing and the power of music that Music for Memories™ will fight dementia and create smiles.
